"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get ‪‎hurt feelings‬.

Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

Combat patches are earned. That is taking away someones accomplishments to make others feel better or equal. Okay lets take away rank than because it probably offends an E-1 that he is not an E-8. SMH I can't believe this.

Seriously? If someone has been in combat, they deserve the right to wear that combat patch! I didn’t have the opportunity when I was in, but had, and still have the utmost respect for those who’ve earned that right. If someone in the military is “offended” by the presence of a warrior, they don’t need to be in the military.

I am a veteran who never deployed to a combat area and was never authorized to wear a combat patch. I feel those who were there and earned them should get to wear them no matter what. Taking that honor away from them would be like making someone who earned a purple heart or bronze or silver star take them off because othwrs hadn't gotten one.
Someone said it earlier and I agree.

I’m an E-2 reservist and this has to be joke. Higher ups need to stop listening to junior enlisted who just joined and doesn’t know anything about the military besides what they were taught in AIT/BCT.

Everyone who has earned they should be able to wear them. Leave that policy in place. I personally was never in combat and never expected to wear a patch I didn't earn.

Your kidding right? If you’ve fought in a unit and earned a Combat patch, wear it proudly. Sensitivity training is bullshit. You don’t have to be “sensitive “ treat others they way you want to be treated. Your job is to kill the enemy! Treat your fellow Soldiers with honor and respect. The rest will take care of itself!

As the late Whitney Houston once said “hell to tha no!” Good luck trying to get me to remove my FWS-SSI. ( 101st Abn). I earned it and a CAB, so if you want you can try and tell it off but we’ll both get busted for assault. You taking my patch off and me for knocking you the heck out.

The soldiers that have combat patches have earned them! I personally have not deployed and don’t feel left out at all! I actually look up to my fellow soldiers who have their combat patches when they provide input in cases where their experience is crucial for decisions to be made and weigh their input appropriately. Everyone has different experiences and backgrounds that support the team. Use your team members strengths to strengthen the team and make the most reasonable decisions.
