"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get ‪‎hurt feelings‬.

Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

Combat patches are earned. That is taking away someones accomplishments to make others feel better or equal. Okay lets take away rank than because it probably offends an E-1 that he is not an E-8. SMH I can't believe this.

Seriously? If someone has been in combat, they deserve the right to wear that combat patch! I didn’t have the opportunity when I was in, but had, and still have the utmost respect for those who’ve earned that right. If someone in the military is “offended” by the presence of a warrior, they don’t need to be in the military.

I am a veteran who never deployed to a combat area and was never authorized to wear a combat patch. I feel those who were there and earned them should get to wear them no matter what. Taking that honor away from them would be like making someone who earned a purple heart or bronze or silver star take them off because othwrs hadn't gotten one.
Someone said it earlier and I agree.

I’m an E-2 reservist and this has to be joke. Higher ups need to stop listening to junior enlisted who just joined and doesn’t know anything about the military besides what they were taught in AIT/BCT.

Everyone who has earned they should be able to wear them. Leave that policy in place. I personally was never in combat and never expected to wear a patch I didn't earn.

Your kidding right? If you’ve fought in a unit and earned a Combat patch, wear it proudly. Sensitivity training is bullshit. You don’t have to be “sensitive “ treat others they way you want to be treated. Your job is to kill the enemy! Treat your fellow Soldiers with honor and respect. The rest will take care of itself!

As the late Whitney Houston once said “hell to tha no!” Good luck trying to get me to remove my FWS-SSI. ( 101st Abn). I earned it and a CAB, so if you want you can try and tell it off but we’ll both get busted for assault. You taking my patch off and me for knocking you the heck out.

The soldiers that have combat patches have earned them! I personally have not deployed and don’t feel left out at all! I actually look up to my fellow soldiers who have their combat patches when they provide input in cases where their experience is crucial for decisions to be made and weigh their input appropriately. Everyone has different experiences and backgrounds that support the team. Use your team members strengths to strengthen the team and make the most reasonable decisions.

What has the military become.? Why would anyone not want to not show they are a combat veteran so as to not hurt someone else feelings. If you have walked the walk then you can talk the talk. Those who have not, need to know who has been there and done that. They need to know who knows what they are talking about and who is pounding sand. Give me a break, not a feel good

I am not jealous of anyone who served in a war zone. I spent 20 years in the Navy and never served in combat. Does that make me less of Veteran or Retiree? No, it doesn’t

I spent 34 years in the Army, Guard & Reserve... never in a combat unit. I don't wear any unit patch on my right arm and neither should anyone else who has not qualified for it. They wear the current unit patchh on the left shoulder and can wear one on the right shoulder... AFTER... they earn it... properly!

While we're about it, next time you get in a fire fight, don't use bullets so the hostile who runs out of ammo doesn't feel bad about his trigger discipline. Just tell "PEW PEW PEW"

I’m about to be very politically incorrect. If you’re sensitive and your feelings are hurt by comments, tough shit. Go tell mommy.

The “commander” (lowercase c was purely intentional) that issued this has got to be one of the greatest pussies to ever wear a uniform. I’ll add in the comment that the Spec 9 that works for him needs to be assigned to a dark corner, far away from Soldiers and promptly retired.

Hell NO! Those Combat Patches were earned. NO ONE has the authority to tell you that you have to remove them so some REMF won't get his/her feelings hurt. As long as it it covered in AR 670-1, wear them. Those patches show who has the experience and expertise for subordinates to look up to and know their leaders have been in the trenches and survived. I aleays felt more secure when my NCOs and Officers were combat veterans when we went into the field. I could always count on them to give us the benefit of there experience to teach us how to stay alive when the "BALLOON" went up.
