"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get ‪‎hurt feelings‬.

Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

If you wear it you earned it so wear, those troops who haven't had the opportunity to deploy to a combat zone will have their chance one day

No it is part of the uniform so not wearing it makes you out of uniform.
Now properly used it will give new solid incentive to excell.

Back when prior to Desert Storm, I was one f two people in my unit wearing a combat patch the other was our SGM.
We were both Vietnam Veterans, he retired and the new one didn't have one but our new COL had one.

If someone had told us to remove the patch so as to not hurt feelings, we would have hurt their feelings.

Be proud and wear it, dare them to tell you to get out of uniform.

Should people without Purple Hearts get voluntarily shot so they can have one and not feel bad?
Yes, that’s how ridiculous the question is.

No!!! SSI-FWTS is a matter of pride for those who wear it. That patch is something that all Soldiers take pride in. The new Soldiers are part of that unit and are valuable team members. Just because the new Soldiers have not deployed to combat we make our combat veterans remove the combat patch they earned. Who ever came up with that crap needs to find another profession. Good way to lower the morale. However, always two sides to a story and I like to hear the reasoning behind this decision.

Heck, why stop there? Let's remove everything but Name, Service and Rank. No need to give away our unit (combat or otherwise). Maybe change the uniform to pink pajama wear, that is fluffy and warm, has enough pockets to carry our iPhones, cigarettes and munchies.

Let them sit in their cry corner, safe place or whatever the all of these assholes call them. They are supposed to be soldiers! I see your MOS is in the Med field, maybe it's different there. I dont know about nowadays, but back 25 years ago no body gave a shit about your feelings. You want feelings? Peace Corp. But that's just my opinion

Combat patches are content the hard way, by serving in combat! They are not given to ever Tom, Dick and Harry just for showing up! I do not have any reason being my time was during peace time. Those with combat patches duck live ammo to get them and it is one of the way we show respect for their sacrifice! Any one sensitive to the fact they do not have any needs to switch to infantry and go out and get some of their own. They are not hard to get just risk your life no big thing right?

Has about the same logic as telling soldiers not to wear uniforms so the ones without them don't get hurt feelings.

Crap like this used to make me laugh, then I realized these idiots are serious. Too bad no one can actually tell them to go the hell away.
