"(Unit Name withheld) BCT ordered to remove combat patches during training at Fort NoMatter so the ones without them don't get ‪‎hurt feelings‬.

Reason? "The unit just returned from Afghanistan and almost everyone has a patch but the large influx of new soldiers are E1 and E2s that have never deployed and they are saying they are left out because they don't have a patch."

Nope, however the combat action badge needs to go. Why? The combat patch.

I served for 20 years active and am still serving and I don't have a patch, and to date, seeing a a warrior wearing one, I have nothing but the highest regard and respect, not only for the individual wearing the patch, but also the unit the patch signifies. Do I feel left out? Maybe, but not to the point of feelings being hurt. All Warriors who earned their combat patch, should wear them with Pride and never let anyone tell them otherwise. Blessings and remember to "Be Kind To Yourself!"

And here lies the issue with today’s youth and or those younger persons joining the military. Regardless of the amount of persons within a unit, battalion, or even brigade that have combat patches versus those that do not means absolutely nothing. A person that was in basic training and AIT while a unit was deployed cannot sit there and be butt hurt that they do not have a combat patch just because they weren’t there when the unit deployed. As a Company Commander, this was one of the many things that began to discussed me with the military, Army being my branch, for the fact that troops are now trained differently and you have to be sweet to them as well as not letting NCOs put their foot up someone’s ass when they screw up. Messing up in the military as opposed to messing up in the civilian world is to me and always should be different by means of “smoke or PT therapy“, however that to nowadays in many places or units has been somewhat taken away as to not add stress or whatever dumb ass feelings the person that screwed up has. To me that’s what sets the military apart from a civilian job, you join the military for a reason and I hate to tell you but combat is not always sweet or kind or friendly, and in some cases unforgiving. Back to the patches, if you’re active duty, stick around your ass will get one soon enough, National Guard and Reserve, again stick around and your will get one, and if you’re hell-bent on having a patch because it means that much to you, you can always volunteer with a unit that is deploying and or going to be deploying in the very near future. Units are constantly looking for service members to fill vacancies if the unit(s) strength numbers are not where they need to be. In the end, as someone beautifully put it above, suck it up buttercup and focus on the mission, not a patch on your arm.

You should be kicked out just for asking this question puño. If you’re this concerned about someone’s feelings being hurt over this I would definitely have my own concerns about your ability to be an effective wingman.

I have a hard time believing a commander would do this for “inclusion”. Sounds like barracks rumors.

You gotta be kidding me. Fucking combat patches are eraned and if you want one join a combat unit and change your mos to infantry. The military is getting to fucking sensitive and cry babies need to fucking suck it up.its bad enough the have legs wearing black beret which belonged to rangers when i was in and to make them fell special. I earned my maroon beret . These things are supposed to be earned not given. Military is getting soft.

This is a prank question, right? Of course they should wear what they've earned. Combat is what we train for. It should motivate the junior enlisted to earn theirs.
P.S. Ssgt Post, the Air Force earns their combat patches just like everyone else. Now my feelings are hurt
