Both my husband and I are in the military. But since he is getting out this month officially, what’s the steps to get full bah switched over to me?? I submitted the paperwork but how long will that take to kick in?

With the roll out of IPPS-A in the near future, this action will be routed thru your BN S-1 only. And they will have the ability to actually execute the update. There will still be cut-off dates for an action to take effect, but it will always be paid out effective the date the entitlement should have started not necessarily the date the action was processed.

Did you submit the paperwork through your unit S1 or did you go straight to the DFAS office?

SPC (Join to see) - Ok, for something like this, and with only a month left before this needs to be fixed, I probably would have went through the DFAS office. S is probably going to take some time. With changes in pay situations - besides promotions which are pretty much automatically set - DFAS acts on packets in a certain fashion and each office is slightly different. Depending on the day of the month that it gets to your DFAS office, I know that the Carson office it was the 10th for the cutoff, it may or may not come into effect for the next month. This could mean that your BAH rate will not be updated until the month after next. Not a huge deal, you will still see that money as long as the date on your paperwork is correct; you will receive the difference between your two rates of pay in a back pay sum that will come with your first correctly allotted BAH.
