If I’m alc / dlc2 complete would I still need a p status to get promoted if I make points in a star Mos?

Yes.

The only NCO promotions that occur without a promotion board recommendation are those that are for certain ranks within MOSes that are in a special promotion category (CMF 18, 37F, etc.), if the Soldier meets the mandatory list integration criteria for TIG/TIS, or in some unique circumstances (rectifying a error, facility commander can waive a board appearance for hospitalized Soldiers, etc.)

As CSM Darieus ZaGara stated, a STAR MOS is a management tool for the Army. Basically, these are MOSes that more Soldiers would have been promoted, but not enough were eligible. STAR MOSes are still required to meet all eligibility criteria for promotion (cutoff scores, appropriate PME and board recommendation).

Results may vary with that one, sir. I still couldn't get promoted and stay in to finish my 20.

A star MOS essentially means it has infilled positions and is a priority for the Army. It gleans certain benefits, like getting a seat in a required course, it does not waiver the promotion board unless it has changed again.

You should want to attend the board anyway. It is a test of character, your presence, military bearing, baseline knowledge, all in front of your CSM and other Senior NCOs.

SGT (Join to see) - Appearance before a local promotion board is mandatory (in the active component) once you are in your primary zone. If you were previously considered and not recommend for promotion, then they can deny your appearance until you have shown you have the potential for promotion.

In cases where you have been sent to the board and not recommended, or where you weren't sent to a subsequent board (and were not recommended by a previous one), you are required to be formally counseled on why you weren't recommended or why you weren't sent to a subsequent board.

If what you're saying is accurate, then I would advise you to first make sure your leadership is aware that you are in your primary zone (first talk with your 1SG and then request a meeting with the commander via open door policy).

SGT (Join to see) why would a new units leadership try to rail you? If you are in the primary zone they have to council you. If they're then what is it that they say you are lacking?

Nothing. I have to earn my spot as a squad leader before I can be a section leader. My first ncoer as an e5 / annual was MQ and COR was HQ shortly thereafter.

It was a poor decision to accept MQ. Im being peered out/ treated like shit it’s been the most uncomfortable months in the army and I just got here.

SGT (Join to see) You need to go to the next level if the 1SG is involved then ask for an open door with the CSM. This may warrant the IG.
