First things first: credit for this idea goes to SPC James Harsh who posed this idea in response to another thread. I thought it a fine topic for it's own discussion.

My answer is not just no, but hell no. This is taking 'equality' way too far. However, perhaps I'm wrong. What do you think, RP?

Can't do that. You can cite a TON of reasons but health wise there would be issues, safety for ALL would be an issue, there would be a ton of kids there and that is something we don't need. Combine facilities yet keep the inmates far apart I could get behind. See but not touch.

You might as well add subsidized childcare to the calculus of paying for this proposal too

To expound off this question, no we should not have males and females in the same prison population. But in the name of equality, I wouldn't be against men and women serving similar sentences for similar crimes.

Time to upend things again. Equality for women has taken huge strides over the last decade. Is it time to start integrating prisons?

This falls into the "WTF" category. I can't begin to enumerated the number of "OMG, just no's" that make this an unrealistic idea with one exception - Death Row. There's only one "bus" leaving that place, and gender doesn't matter by then.

I agree. But the spiteful part of me wants to say, 'you want equality, right?' Which is ridiculous, of course. (Not YOU you.)

Was this actually in the works or in question? Can you please provide referencing to integrating prisons? In my opinion, if everyone behaved, there would be no need to worry, but if everyone behaved, we wouldn't have prisons either.

Not to my knowledge. Just an exercise in thought.

You keep saying an exercise in thought. That would assume it was a question that made you think.i think the only reaction it gets is eye rolling and laughter. Takes away from other questions you asked that were interesting and thought provoking.

Would this be the rape advancement law?
These people are in there for being lawbreakers in the first place.
