Persian Gulf, 1993. Got into a brawl with Sailors from the Royal Navy in Bahrain and almost got into a brawl with Russian merchant sailors in UAE. Good times!

First deployment was stateside after 9/11. 2nd deployment was also stateside but a different base. 3rd deployment was overseas in OEF. I loved all my assignments and deployments.

A crummy dusty corner of Afghanistan in 2003.
When I moved in to my wood-floored GP Medium, I was the only one in there. There was a 3 ft tall dust dune at each entryway. It looked like it hadn't been lived in for months. I got out an e-tool and dug all of the offending dirt out of there. The next day, a new Soldier moved into my tent, escorted by a member of the Mayor's Cell. I asked MC SPC guy how long the tent had been vacant. He says, "since Tuesday".
I soon discovered that dust storms were a nearly every evening occurrence, and an inch of dust in the tent afterwards was a common sight.

Mine was aboard the Uss Anchorage LSD 36. We deployed to Somalia and pretty much did gator squares for 3 months off the coast. The rest of the 6 months we hit some pretty good libo ports.

Yokouska, Japan. Home port for The Mahan was changed to Yokosuka in Mid 1968. From there we supported various actions in the Tonkin Gulf.

First deployment was Okinawa and it was awesome. Also went to Thailand and mainland Japan on that UDP.
Upon returning jumped on the next UDP I could by cross decking companies.

My first overseas assignment was an operational deployment to Germany (where I am now). I am working two ranks above what I should be and the learning curve is outrageous. I think this will help me in the future. It's been great learning and growing and experiencing a new culture. It is so hard to get a combat deployment these days. I will probably be here again in a year or year and a half in the same position, but if there are no other combat deployments I can get into then I will probably be heading out to South Korea for another another overseas tour.
