Are you talking about a State sanctioned group (Such as the Tennessee State Guard)? Or are you talking a bunch of liquored up rednecks in daddy's hand-me-down BDU's with shotguns and rebel flags?

I see where you currently serve in the Tennessee State Guard, MSgt Steven Holt, NRP, CCEMT-P, so I assume your interview experience was dissimilar to mine and your service there has been more rewarding. I interviewed with the TSG when I retired in 1998, and I was really disappointed with facilities, equipment and their expectations of me. All they really said was they'd make me a full colonel on the spot. I said that wasn't really my interest or goal, but they really didn't offer much more.
Perhaps your MOS allows you to make a more fulfilling contribution.

LTC Stephen C. - I am still part of the State Guard. I'm in the 61st Medical attached to 2nd Battalion 3rd Regiment. It's been a challenge for sure. We are woefully understaffed, under-equipped, under-utilized, and receive no funding from the State. Plus, for several years, we've had senior Officers and NCOs who have viewed the Guard as nothing more than a "Good Ole Boys" club and a chance to relive their perceived glory of Active Duty.

Fortunately, at least in the 3rd, we're trying to fix some of what's broken. We are slowly building a strong cadre of dedicated NCOs who are trying to breath some life into the organization. Only time will tell if we are successful or not.

Not me. Many of these militias are not filled with rational thinking people.

Upon leaving the military, how many of you plan on joining a local militia?

The guys in the U.P. Were pretty rational and we had a few kinda wild ones but we had ones that kept them in line or they be gone as in permanent. they were the ones that busted in and made a mess. The good guys came in did KP for me and had it shining in a couple hours.. I managed to squeeze some extra polishing and scrubbing out of them..

I belonged to one in the U.P. Of Mi. Lived there also, used for my address for a year.
I cooked and maintsined their Mess hall along with some of the wives and Girl friends.. I got tired of them and them imof me. We kept the inspectors off our backs my staff and I.. what they didn’t like is that I kept regular hours, not a 24 hr. Chow hall.. didn’t allow them that didn’t belong tracking through in muddy sloppy boots The the kitchen. I even got some guys to build a sanitary wild animal dressing station with all the necessry sanitizing gear.. didn’t want them bringing animals that have a strange disease and by chance get into the human food. I came back and s couple guys broke in, busted some locks.. fried up some conglomeration and left a mess all over.. They only done it once.. bought some titanium bolted locks and hasps. Locked the shutters on the windows and doors. Every night like a vault.. they said if I continued locking up I’d have to pay
Rent for my cabin.. find.., I loaded my gear
which included my chef knife collection and special saws and rib cage splitter . I left the keys and stopped by the county office to tell the Inspector they could drop in any day, I was out of there.. i couldn’t run that place with e’y Body tripping through cooking what they felt like.. I had a menu which included wild food that I had inspected frequently to make sure nobody got sick.. They were all healthy while I was there. As far as going to the range and playing their crawling around war games. I fired and qualified, that was all I needsd.

That depends, Nicole Marie -- are you making a list for the FBI, BATF, SS, NWO, MIB, WTF, or any similar agency, or is it for the marketing department of an online ammunition sales venture?
