I have a question about domestic partnership. I am a disabled veteran in a state recognized domestic partnership with my girlfriend of 20 years. My question is, is she eligible for any type of survivor benefits? Thank you.

Yes, you are entitled to benefits but you have to be married to present spouse at least 10 years. Get ready for a very long process. Upon death you will have to provide legal document of first marriage from the court house; same for divorce proceeding. Then, present legal documentation for new marriage. I still didn't get it with 43 years of marriage. VA and law makers always have a loop hole.

I am a veteran with stage 4 cancer. I've done 46 rounds of chemo. We applied for my wife to be my caretaker and we were denied? Why? Do I have to be dead first???
