Upon boarding the plane from Basic, I just relished in the fact that I survived 4 months of silliness.

I got to smell fresh air for the first time in what felt like forever. I was able to hug my parents again. I got more than 4 hours of sleep for the first time in 2 months.. I dared put my back against a chair and eat with both hands. I was reacquainted with a Monster Energy, something I had dreamed about! And finally, I locked myself in a barracks stall and had the first bit of me time in months. All in all, bootcamp made me appreciate the little things unlike anything I could explain. 800 divisions were no joke.

Your Company Commander was a bit salty it sounds like? I don't know how they run boot now at G.L.. Did you have a mix of male and females in your company? When I was there, 1994, there were only males, and Florida Bootcamp was starting to shut down, and when I was nearing graduating, the last few weeks, the first females started showing up integrating into the new companies. 1 morning out of the blue, actually a e5 female Company Commander, I can remember quite vividly, acting tougher and loudder, then she looked, at like 5 ft 5, leading her company down the grinder. I was in a 900 company, back then they were called Flag Companies. Is that still the same?

900 were "triple threat" divisions - essentially as we called them "band nerds" who spent their day rehearsing for graduation ceremonies singing and playing instruments, listening to music.. 800 divisions were your standard SEAL/SWCC contracted recruits. We were in the presence of an RDC until 0001 and on the toe line at 0400 sharp for 0430 march off. I vividly remember hallucinating on several occasions and even marching over a mile and waking up thinking, where am I and how did I get here - in fact, I woke up once I jumped into the freezing water one day at the pool with no idea what was going on (I had done two consecutive balls to 4 watches and had been up 2 days straight.. Honestly, boot was the hardest day of my life outside of being medically dropped from BUD/S... I know most would scoff at that statement, but for me, under my RDC, it truly was.. We were the first all male 100+ SEAL contract division, and the first to be sponsored by an actual SEAL Team. We were honored enough to march their flag everyday.

I went to Airborne School, where I got a femoral neck stress fracture during Tower Week. I got my wings anyway, before going to sick call.

PO3 Aaron Hassay - SEP - OCT 2013. I wasn't fully recovered until about DEC 2014, as I recall. It probably would have healed faster if I had gone to sick call sooner.

Had my seabag and a shuttle bus dumped me off in front of my A School barracks. We had to dump our stuff off and check into the school. There we got a list of things we had to buy and show the Chief before we got liberty for the weekend. I recall my first liberty was mostly spent in the rack. There were beer vending machines in the barracks and for a dime you got 3.2. Real beer required a run up to Wisconsin.

Hi, Petty Officer Hassay.
I ran to the back of the bus so I could read the sign that said Now Leaving Lackland Air Force Base.

SPC (Join to see) - It's all gravy. I clearly remember doing the same thing when I graduated from FLW. Only, it wasn't the wife....it was the GF that came down with my family. Ironically, the Cadre actually told the company to NOT engage in extra curricular activities with spouses/gf's.

Agreed, they told us that on the BCT family day, but on the AIT family day all bets were off.

When I graduate from basic from Fort Lenardwood. (sp) Me and some of my buddy's went off base to get some real food and ended up at a Korean restaurant and had our first real meal in months. Mind you I had never had Korean food before this. I had the hottest spicyist disk I had ever ate. I know I drank five glasses of water to try and cool my mouth off. The guys and the waitress were laughing and once my mouth got back to normal I laughed also.

SSG Leo Bell Hottest food I ever had was in Phuket. It was one of those kinds where everything in your face that can produce mucous or liquid, did. Ever since then, I'm VERY careful when eating Thai food lol.
