PO1 William "Chip" Nagel, maglites are the best. I bought my kids mini-mags and they love using them too.

I still have my marlinspike in my pocket, a P-38 on my keychain, and FOUR woobies (poncho liners) around the house and in my car.

MCPO (Join to see), it seems like the P-38 and the poncho seemed to be the most popular items that people retain.

My P-38 is still on my key chain, and my poncho is still rolled up in the back of the car.... Hats, I have at least 5 different Military issue hats... And believe it or not way down in the bottom back row in my dresser there are not one but two Brown tee shirts..... And I retired in 93.....

SFC Everett Oliver, the P38 and poncho are two necessities in life that everyone should get a chance to experience and use.

SSgt Dan Montague, the gear cross nice! I have a aluminum one that I got made at my last duty assignment.

SGM Mikel Dawson, the infamous P38. I've got one in the kitchen right now that gets used religiously. My wife loves it.

I ended up with an old flak vest and extreme cold weather gear (parka suit, other accessories) when Army out processing refused to take it back. I'm also pretty sure I have a few woobies and an old mess kit, on top of all the medical gear Id been issued over the years.

SSG Drew Cook, the cold weather system is awesome to use for camping and outdoor related activities of used correctly. The mess kit was truly practical and shouldn't have been discontinued.

I ended up with all my old ALICE gear. The Marines had a "career issue" for a short time. When I got off of recruiting, the gear wasn't in the system and I was told to just keep it.

CW4 (Join to see) I have my ribbons and mics items, along with my fathers wings and dog tags in a shadow box. I also still have my field jacket and seabag full of uniforms.

Sgt (Join to see), having a field jacket is a must. I can't wait to construct a shadow box once I'm close to retirement. I really like how some of them turn out.

CW4 (Join to see) - My father was a Captain in the Air Force who was a WWII and Korean War veteran. He was killed in 1956 when his plane crashed on a training mission. I was seven years old and we were living in Yuma Arizona. His wings, name tag, and dog tags are in the shadow box next to my items. Every time I see the box, I think of my father. The only other items of my father are some treasured pictures.

Sgt (Join to see) - I'm sorry to hear that your father passed away on a training mission of all things especially after serving in both WWII and Vietnam. I know those items are truly specially to you. I'm glad that you have them to remember your dad by.
