For Instance:

"I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand a post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think"

In memory of Robin.....

"Goooooooood morning Vietnam! It's 0600 hours. What does the "O" stand for? O my God, it's early! Speaking of early, let's hear it for that Marty Lee Drywitz. Silky smooth sounds, making me sound like Peggy Lee"...

From "We Were Soldiers"

Joe Galloway: [Narrating; voice-over] In Saigon, Hal Moore's superiors congratulated him for killing over 1,800 enemy soldiers. Then ordered him to lead the Seventh Cavalry back into the valley of death. He led them and fought beside them for 235 more days. Some had families waiting. For others, their only family would be the men they bled beside. There were no bands, no flags, no Honor Guards to welcome them home. They went to war because their country ordered them to. But in the end, they fought not for their country or their flag, the fought for each other.

PO3 Steven Sherrill - Awesome movie, always makes me sad, and proud. BTW is that Viking hat one of the ones that were given away by Norse Technologies at Black Hat 2014?

No. It was from Epcot center. I am 6'2" tall, and we were there with the family. My mom bought it for me so she could keep track of the group. Now they sit in my cube under a sign labeled "IT Department Thinking Cap"

“And what are you? So full of hate you want to go out and fight everybody! Because you’ve been whipped and chased by hounds. Well that might not be living, but it sure as hell ain’t dying. And dying’s been what these white boys have been doing for going on three years now! Dying by the thousands! Dying for *you*, fool! I know, ’cause I dug the graves. And all this time I keep askin’ myself, when, O Lord, when it’s gonna be our time?”

– Glory (1989)

Morgan Freeman as Sgt. Major John Rawlins as he tries to motivate the former slave troops to fight side-by-side with guys that would crap their pants if they found out The United States would have a black President.

“I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn’t find one of ‘em, not one stinkin’ dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like…victory. Someday this war’s gonna end…”

MAJ (Join to see) , I have actually met young people who paraphrase this quote without knowing its source. This is one of my all-time favorite movies, not because of its realism, but for the subtle traits of the characters in such a harsh environment.

For example, the last statement in this quote, "Someday this war's gonna end..." The way Robert Duvall delivered that last line and just let it hang in the air--was it hope, fear, desperation, uncertainty?

I try not to get "too deep" into my movies, but this one struck a chord and still does when I revisit it every so often.

A couple more of my favorite lines:

"Never get out of the boat. Absolutely G** d*** right, unless you were going all the way."

"Sh**...charging a man with murder in this place was like handing out speeding tickets in the Indy 500."

From Heartbreak Ridge:

Colonel Meyers: Have we ever served together?
Highway: I don't know, sir. Sergeant Major Choozoo and I were in the 2nd Battalion and 7th in '68.
Colonel Meyers: I had a rifle company in the 1st Battalion and 7th in '68.
Highway: Well, we sure as hell chewed some of the same dirt, sir.
Colonel Meyers: That's for sure. What's your assessment of this exercise?
Highway: It's a cluster fuck.
Colonel Meyers: Say again?
Highway: Marines are fighting men, sir. They shouldn't be sitting around on their sorry asses filling out request forms for equipment they should already have.
Colonel Meyers: Interesting observation. Carry on, Major.
