This is a slightly different topic than famous movie quotes. These are real life quotes -- things that real people [not Hollyweird actors!] said.
What we're doing here is looking for quotes that have some kind of connection of meaning to you that you think others might identify with and vote up.
What I'm referring to are famous military quotes, political, inspirational, satire, witty, sarcastic, etc.
It can even be something you came up with (Don't plagiarize!) or a quote from your friends, but if it's never been in print, you need to tell the story that goes along with it.
Enter as many times as you like. We'll let the up votes determine the overall winners, and in each general category.
Here's an example of something sarcastic by witty:
"They snatched defeat from the jaws of victory!" << (That was Clemson not that long ago.)

Our nation's service members are her tallest walls. They live by a different standard, a higher standard, a standard in which most American citizens could not or would not want to live up to. Each and everyday they stand proud and ready to defend their nation for it is the heart and soul of the service member in which they pour into the preservation of democracy.

My favorite and current motivation to keep working out:
You don't stop moving because you get old, You get old because you stop moving.
You don't stop moving because you get old, You get old because you stop moving.

You take care of your people and they'll take care of you. Of course sometimes that means putting a boot in someone's ass. - Me.

"I wish to have no Connection with any Ship that does not Sail fast for I intend to go in harm's way."
Captain John Paul Jones
16 November 1778
"Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!"
Lieutenant Howell Maurice Forgy USN (ChC)
7 December 1941
"I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: 'I served in the United States Navy.'"
President John Fitzgerald Kennedy
1 August 1963
"Between the idea
And the reality
Between the motion
And the act
Falls the Shadow"
An Excerpt from "The Hollow Men"
T.S. Elliot
1925
And finally my own personal favorite;
"Yes, makin' mock o' uniforms that guard you while you sleep
Is cheaper than them uniforms, an' they're starvation cheap;
An' hustlin' drunken soldiers when they're goin' large a bit
Is five times better business than paradin' in full kit.
Then it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, 'ow's yer soul?"
But it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll,
The drums begin to roll, my boys, the drums begin to roll,
O it's "Thin red line of 'eroes" when the drums begin to roll."
Excerpt from "Tommy"
Rudyard Kipling
1892

My two favorites:
"The problem with having an open mind is it leaves you closed to the truth."

PO3 Jonathan Cooper
There was another quote similar to the previous one, something about a man with too open of a mind may have his brain fall out, or something along those words.
