What are the best resources for Veterans & Service Members?

Without a doubt, there are truly some great resources available to active and Reserve component personnel and veterans. Of course, if folks don't know that they're out there, members and their families couldn't possibly benefit from some of these amazing offers and services. So, the idea here is to share those helpful tidbits of information, tips, links, lessons learned, processes, resources, wisdom and/or POCs to help members find the resources they need for their troops, their families, and to help themselves. Just a couple of quick admin notes, please make sure to share the source if known, and remember to post in accordance with RallyPoint guidelines. Well, I'm certain that will be a great way to get timely information, resources, and assistance to those who need it most, when they need it the most... so, if you have something useful, helpful, or good-to-know, please feel free to share. *** Heads UP *** Changes coming to the Tuition Assistance (TA) program.
New policies affecting which soldiers are eligible for Army Tuition Assistance will take effect in the coming days and weeks.

Prominent among those changes is a new rule linking eligibility for TA reimbursement to a soldier’s grade upon completion of an approved academic course.

I dont know if this is related, but, after being out of the Corps for 30 yrs., and many people telling me to get signed up, I finally got registered at the VA, they tell me I have a claim because I was stationed at Camp Lejuene and Geiger in the early 80's when they were contaminating the ground water and I've had several bouts with cancer,.
Now that I am registered(I think) I have a 4 month wait before they will call me to get an appointment to be seen and be assigned a primary care physician AND I have to make a separate trip to a different location to file my claim! IN the mean while, I have no medical coverage on my current job, I think my cancer is back again, and the local VA in Phx., AZ is under investigation for reports of purposely letting patients die waiting for treatment and since I work swing shift I cant afford to repeatedly take time off to play the waiting game in the VA offices...Any thoughts or ideas on actions I can take?

update on status...I actually wound up doing not one but TWO radio interviews for the local talk radio station here in Phoenix about being one of the 1700 vets not registered, got 4 calls from the VA in one 10 hr. period regarding scheduling an appointment to see primary care Doc, got in to see him in a week...ONE WEEK!!, got a ton of referrals for tests and to see other Doc's, EVERYONE I dealt with in the Phx. VA was pleasant, patient and considerate...my prognosis (cancer again, and its location prevents surgery) is serious, but things are moving along and I am at least getting answers!
Thanks for the help, info and direction!
