Without a doubt, there are truly some great resources available to active and Reserve component personnel and veterans. Of course, if folks don't know that they're out there, members and their families couldn't possibly benefit from some of these amazing offers and services. So, the idea here is to share those helpful tidbits of information, tips, links, lessons learned, processes, resources, wisdom and/or POCs to help members find the resources they need for their troops, their families, and to help themselves. Just a couple of quick admin notes, please make sure to share the source if known, and remember to post in accordance with RallyPoint guidelines. Well, I'm certain that will be a great way to get timely information, resources, and assistance to those who need it most, when they need it the most... so, if you have something useful, helpful, or good-to-know, please feel free to share. Alright folks, it's that time, so pull-up a keyboard and let's get this thing started; thank you for all that you do, and... see you all in the discussion threads!

Deployments can be challenging for any service member or military family. We want to make managing those separations easier and help you find ways to make your reunions happy and successful ones. Use these resources, tools, and articles throughout your deployment to make every step, from pre-deployment preparations to settling back into family routines post-deployment, smoother for you and your family.

I dont know if this is related, but, after being out of the Corps for 30 yrs., and many people telling me to get signed up, I finally got registered at the VA, they tell me I have a claim because I was stationed at Camp Lejuene and Geiger in the early 80's when they were contaminating the ground water and I've had several bouts with cancer,.
Now that I am registered(I think) I have a 4 month wait before they will call me to get an appointment to be seen and be assigned a primary care physician AND I have to make a separate trip to a different location to file my claim! IN the mean while, I have no medical coverage on my current job, I think my cancer is back again, and the local VA in Phx., AZ is under investigation for reports of purposely letting patients die waiting for treatment and since I work swing shift I cant afford to repeatedly take time off to play the waiting game in the VA offices...Any thoughts or ideas on actions I can take?

update on status...I actually wound up doing not one but TWO radio interviews for the local talk radio station here in Phoenix about being one of the 1700 vets not registered, got 4 calls from the VA in one 10 hr. period regarding scheduling an appointment to see primary care Doc, got in to see him in a week...ONE WEEK!!, got a ton of referrals for tests and to see other Doc's, EVERYONE I dealt with in the Phx. VA was pleasant, patient and considerate...my prognosis (cancer again, and its location prevents surgery) is serious, but things are moving along and I am at least getting answers!
Thanks for the help, info and direction!

Although all families face stress, military families face a unique set of stressors that can negatively affect their health and well-being.

The Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, and individual branches of the military provide a variety of online resources to help families navigate these challenges.

This site is a bridge for caregivers and veterans alike. It is a safe place to air questions and frustrations on and offline, but we also provide individualized assistance when you've hit the wall. As a veteran or a caregiver of a veteran, your life may be significantly altered by injury, illness, or aging.

Col (Join to see) Check out the National Veterans Transition Service, Inc Group Page right here on RallyPoint.

NVTSI is a San Diego-based 501(c)3 organization dedicated to assisting veterans in adjusting to civilian life and securing meaningful employ-ment by combining best-practice performance social solutions and techniques. Col (Join to see) Check out the RIP Medical Debt Group Page right here on RallyPoint

RIP is the cure for medical debt.

Registered as a 501(C)(3) non-profit charity, RIP launched in 2014 to address the growing problem of medical debt in the general U.S. population.

RIP gained national attention in 2016 by forgiving almost $15 million in medical debt on HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, climaxing a scorching segment on debt buyers and collectors.

Since that segment, which has been viewed over 10M times on Youtube, RIP has abolished medical debt in communities from Florida to California, most recently using a $150,000 donation from NBC Universal to abolish debt in 11 of their major television markets.

The medical debt burden of veterans and military early on caught the attention of RIP’s cofounders, veteran Harold “Jerry” Ashton (USN JO2-E5) and civilian Craig Antico. With the staff addition of Col (Ret.) Mikel Burroughs as Vice President and Director of Military Debt Acquisition and Relief, RIP is committing greater energy than ever to abolishing the medical debt of veterans and members of the armed services.
