I come from an Aerospace Engineering background, but am interested in branching out into the IT world. I'd like to earn some credentials to supplement my ad-hoc experience and am interested in any good opportunities available.

Could consider bootcamps. Some are free, paid for by the companies that partner with them and hire from them. They change from time to time so I'd search for the current crop.

A software development company usually has specialized software developers who are committed to delivering the best products to their clients https://mlsdev.com/services/custom-software-development . These developers specialize in specific areas of software development, such as web and desktop software development. Web developers specialize in creating web applications and web pages through HTML, JavaScript, XML and PHP. Desktop software developers create software programs for personal computers such as desktops, notebooks, netbooks and others. A desktop software development team may also specialize in specific areas of software development like wireless networking, automotive, consumer electronic, SaaS and manufacturing. A software development company will often have multiple product development teams working on a single project.

I am using tuition assistance to get a masters degree in computer science. I'm in Georgia Tech's OMSCS program, specifically. It's cheap enough for tuition assistance to cover (even cheap enough to consider paying out of pocket if you have no tuition assistance) and it has a fairly low floor for admissions, especially for a masters program. I plan on doing the same career transition to computer science/programming/development (except my background is music education).
