Just a basic knowledge question. I’m stationed at JBLM and as I drive around I see a lot of units with CW5 personnel. My question what is the purpose of them? Thanks for the answers

I call bullshit on this post. SPC Sword, you claim to have actually seen a CW5? They are mythical creatures, much like Bigfoot, Santa Claus and the Loc Ness Monster. The CW5 exists only in our hearts and imaginations.

Hahaha, they do exist. I’ve seen 2. And the 1st one was CW5 Hogg who works at 16th CAB

SGT (Join to see) - Yes, Jay Hogg was the Command Chief Warrant Officer who was the commander's right hand man in all things warrant officer. Each Division has a total of 470 warrant officers, EVERY division. The Combat Aviation Brigade at each Division OWNS or has assigned 290 of the 470, do the math. So in order to ensure professional military education, career and talent management, command and staff mentorship with a ton of other stuff, the CCWO is a busy person. There are SIX, yes SIX other CW5's in a CAB, and ONLY ONE in the rest of the division in the G4 as a maintenance warrant for rolling stock.
Each of those CW5s is responsible for one of the following:
Aviation Safety
Aviation Standardization
Aviation Mission Survivavbility
Brigade Aviaiton Maintenance Officer
Quality Control Officer (ASB)
and finally the SPO
Hope this helps!

It does, Mr. Hogg was a great guy to talk to. I had the honor of giving him his last flight. We had an hour long conversation about flying. Thanks for you input sir. CW5 Sam R. Baker

Many units employ a Command Warrant, that is dual hatted with another function. Our ADO was the Command Warrant at 4th Sustainment Brigade.
They advise the command on all things warrant including talent management, warrant officer slating etc.

Officers have higher commanders and NCOs have command sergeants major, but until a change enacted Oct. 1, warrant officers haven't had an official command. Chief Warrant Officer 5 John M. Moseley, command chief warrant officer (CCWO), 4th Combat Avia...
