May is a month which is chock full of reminders about military service for those serving, those supporting the people who are serving and those who died while in the service of this nation.
We are living in turbulent times yet I believe we have much to be thankful for. I am thankful:
1. that our armed forces are still attracting highly qualified, conscientious, and motivated soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines.
2. that this nation is still generally the land of the free and more certainly the home of the brave.
3. for the privilege of serving this nation for so many years and getting to work with and know so many of those who served with me.
4. for the love of my wife and sons.
5. for my daily and eternal salvation through my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I'm thankful for those who served before me, served with me and those serving now! Thank you all! No matter what service you joined, we are all a band of brothers (and sisters!)
Much love!
Much love!

SGT John Wesley, thank you for your service to this nation. Your namesake served this nation in a different yet profound way. I concur we are all comrades in arms - past, present, and future members.

For the freedom to join the military, live a productive life with the love of my family. The ability to get educated and find meaningful work, and retire with dignity.

Hopefully someone will keep asking questions, and us old timers will be able to contribute useful information which may out last us. May be we will be able to return this country and its military to its former greatness.

I am very thankful for all of the great comments submitted already. I just learned that we have a personal limit of 75 votes per day and I have almost hit my threshold. I consider it a great day when there are so many comments worth voting for that I run out of votes. Much better than running out of ammunition when needed.

Thankful that I can join the Rolling Thunder ride this year to honor my comrades whose names are on "the Wall" and physically remind again those in power that we must never forget any of those whose fate remains unknown in any conflict or who are today unjustly imprisoned in unfriendly nations such as Iran. The message to the political elite should always be "We will, and you should, too, stand up for those who stood up for us and paid or are still paying the price of service!"

I'm thankful that "my side" won and commemorate all those who fell defending what they considered to be "my side" - even if their definition of "my side" wasn't/isn't the same as my definition of "my side".
I'm thankful that I'm alive to appreciate the fact that "my side" won when so many of those I started out with aren't.
I'm thankful for the opportunity to be crotchety/kindly as the mood strikes me (and the ability to know which is which) without having to worry about whether I am offending some "Supreme Leader" (secular or profane).
I think that three things to be truly thankful for is enough for one day.
