I can't say I'm surprised that this is all happening. Right now I'm just sad and frustrated.

Had I not had to take a medical I would most likely have been on orders at some point before I retired to go. By taking the oath we go and do the job as assigned. When the local NG was called up, I felt left behind. I did a lot of studying of the area and learned about its culture, etc. It was then I hoped it would be a short involvement because its culture would not accept out kind of government. It was as fdifferent from a Republic as VN was and I had lost so many friends and relatives in that one, one way or another. We, as a nation did not need another VN.
As it dragged on, I was getting so disgusted as more lives were lost. Then, the people who we trained would turn on the American Soldiers and Marines…the turned my stomach every time that happened. It further showed me it was not their understanding of our kind of government. They had tribes and we were not tribal government. They had their little bands of family who were nomadic and had their sheep and goats. It was not us.
It took decades to sink in.

America has fallen with the Whispering Biden administration. We now have opened the can of worms by letting the Taliban take over . Now China will join the Taliban and screw us without lube. All of our buddies died for nothing .

With our government it was only a matter of time. Biden is a follower, not a leader, knows nothing about the military, knows nothing about world affairs, and follows to some extent the "clean black man"! Who also didn't have a clue about how to lead...remember giving weapons to the gangs in Mexico in an effort to do away with out Second Amendment? My opinion now is that any ignorant soul who votes blue deserves whatever they get.

As a Vietnam vet, I am distraught with how the current administration is handling the situation. Whatever happened to no one left behind? It makes my blood boil.

I feels angry with the decision of our government to abandon all those people that only wanted to be free of the oppression of some people who only wanted to rule by force and killing there own and abroad by terroristm, like in Vietnam leaving theme on there own,all we needed was to have a present like we had in other places but not we just leave theme like it was at the bigining, and what about our VETERANS who FOUGHT and died but what can you expect from the democrats, we need to learn that if we going to war is to Win not to come back with our tail between our legs

I guess that I am sad and feel defeated and a sense of hopelessness and frustration for the people and their families there. It's a lot like the way I felt when we left Saigon.

I couldn’t agree more our president just months ago stated that the Afghan government won’t collapse. As we can see they all ran like a bunch of cowards. We provided them with training and weapons. Now see who has our weapons. God help us. I feel we are on the verge of a major war with one of the biggest armies today. We are so focused on diversity training and paying for people’s sex changes ( by the way. They aren’t deployed until the total process takes place one way or the other). My son is serving now and I pray for his safety every day. Our military is be ruin. People who never served a day in the military think they know it all! I told my wife months ago that the taliban would take over Afghanistan

I only served in Iraq. I have a a nephew in the Corps that served both Iraq and Afghanistan. My opinion is that this exodus was doomed the day Biden was elected. Remember the mottos of WWII “Loose lips sinks ships”? As President he should not have told the world our dates and plans to exit that country.

Whoever made the plans to give up that airfield in the desert outside of Kabul outta be drawn and quartered. It would have been an easier exodus from that airfield than the one in Kabul. This exodus is looking more and more like the one when we left Vietnam - a total clusterf*ck.

I truly feel sorry for the people we’re leaving behind, troops and AMERICAN civilians. I am also truly disgusted with how the Biden Administration is handling this. He’s made us the laughingstock of the world.

While I expected the taliban to end up in charge of that place, that is easily the worst withdrawal since Saigon.

Not surprised at all, this is what we do! What surprises me is that everyone wants to jump on the band wagon and throw fits when those same people havnt even noticed our troops (my husband) has been there for 20 years! Yeah he's home physically, not actually he's at our local VA Residential CPTSD clinic and will be until end of September. He and many more were left over there just like the equipment they no longer have a need for. Trump had us scheduled to be out by May. Biden extended till September. Definitely could and should of been handled differently but would another 20 years make a difference?! Sorry to those who didn't make it back, praying for those who still can and thankful for all who put boots on the ground and would of done another 20 if that's what the mission called for!
