Nothing good. It is awful that recruits are dropping out of training because of an unprecedented fear of being targeted. Police officers know they will be in harms way on the job, but with executions at the gas pump it's pretty hard for them to recruit.

I don't know the fix, but we've got to find it and protect those who protect.

My opinion is that personal accountability has become non existent in our society... that needs to be addressed immediately if we stand a chance at righting this ship...

It's bad...very bad. I think people have taken what could have been a great movement to raise awareness and to foster better mix-raced communities and have now turned it into something that will go down in history as the complete opposite. I think the current environment is push wedges further between the races and the violence will only continue until people realize that all lives matter.

It's hell. Family members are worried. But if we walk away, less good comes of it. Evil wins.

Absolutely. It's disgustingly horrible. And I work for a grossly understaffed rural agency.

We, as a nation, are not doing enough to stand behind them and call the black lives matter movement what it is... a terrorist organization.

The Black Lives Matter movement is not a terrorist organization. I believe that is propaganda.

I think it is advocated by public figures such as Louis Farrakhan and action is not being taken to stop or prevent the spread of this message.

I am honestly a little surprised that our elected "leaders" in Washington are silent on the matter.... 6 officers murdered in the past week and nothing from them!

MAJ (Join to see) - I've been told by some members of the law enforcement community that they feel the administration has added to the problem and they do not feel they are being supported by it at this time.

I 100% agree and I see it everyday here. I understand that the media is not going to support me, but I expect my own department to have my back. It is not the case and that is why the moral in my department is at it's lowest ever.

I don't think it's right. It's not right to target anyone like this. BUT this unfortunate series of events has brought a topic that also was taboo for years; police misconduct. I mentioned it before in another post where the poor, uneducated, and not wanted people were picked on and picked up for decades and no one bat an eye. From urban decay to rural spread folks were beat, imprisoned, and misrepresented, while many in positions to make a difference did nothing. It's not a racial thing being that my description includes all skin tones. Now people are fed up with the impunity the police have enjoyed and the strong influence they've extorted on politicians. But at no time should the populace take matters into their own hands and kill a police officer for no other reason than he's just a cop. You shouldn't want to wantonly kill anyone. You've lost all credibility and IMO you're a coward and a murderer. Cops have a sh*tty job, but those that are good cops do it because they're making a difference in their communities and want to see things better. And like Serpico did with his exposing of the unfairness and corruption in NYPD, those that are not good cops and only there for the power trip and self betterment need to be ostracized and fired with no chance of joining another force; locked up, charged with crimes, and convicted if so needed. And mainstream media has a LARGE stake in this; they hype up the masses, push trigger buttons with certain folks, and sit back and wait for the carnage while playing "it wasn't our fault". They're not the direct killers, but mainstream media is very culpable in many of the ills plaguing this nation.

MAJ (Join to see) - Thank you and I hope you enjoy many more years as a LEO! It's not acceptable to tell anyone to F off, but respect has to be given both ways. The badge doesn't make the man, the man makes the badge. It's the same in the military. I've MANY leaders who could get things done not because they outranked anyone, but because they were so respected, you wanted to do it for them. The respect factor is missing on both sides today.
LEO's ARE human, but as a former MP, the attitude of us vs. them needs to be done away with. I had it during my time, and in some ways carry it today and it's plain wrong. We ARE them, and they ARE us. When we start treating each other that way, a lot of issues will sort themselves out. I get giddy when I see videos of cops having a positive interaction with the community. Not in their cars but walking and talking to their community. I've gone to the parks and you don't see the cops interacting with folks; just drive by and keep going. How do you know me, and how will I get to know you? I'm speaking for my interaction with some of the local PD state and county. But on the whole, I cannot say I've had a bad experience with a LEO. I treat them how I expect to be treated, and it's been great so far.
Loosing police officers is a shame, and having "replacements" in there will lead to more issues in the future. I'm a believer that if you're a cop in an area, you should be from that area or at least very VERY familiar with it. Replacements will know that's all they are, and I don't think all of them will care they way they should. There's always good apples in the bushel so I'm going to hold out hope for them.

SSG Warren Swan thank you for your service as well. I like to play by "Big Boy Rules" when I am at work. I treat people with repect at all times, but I also demand the same in return.

I am all for community policing, but unfortunately when you work in a big city like I do (dallas), we do not have the man power to all paticipate in those types of events. We have officers dedicates to it and I always try to be personable while I am working. Unfortunately we have to spend our time running from call to call to call because there is such a high call load and we do not get the time to slow down and go out and just talk to people.

There has to be a balance that we can find, it is going to take leadership from the top. I personally have been very disappointed in our leadership in Washington...

MAJ (Join to see) - No disrespect but F*ck them. They cannot make a difference in their own bathrooms let alone lead anyone out of one. You're the first line of defense and offence in Dallas, so you take the bull by the horns and make sh*t happen. I have no doubt you can...you're a Soldier. BTW could you please arrest ALL of the Dallas Cowboys for anything to include the owner? You'd be doing the country a very special service, and Redskin Nation would be appreciative. #HTTR

The problem is like everything else. A few get out of control and do stupid things then all are labeled. Deal with those bad apples quickly and decisively. The police, in general, do their job correctly. I would love to see those people who are placing the police un attack do their jobs for a month and see if their minds change.

it is a signal that society has lost its' rudder to a degree. There is no value placed on any human lives by so many. Look at all the black on black crime for one..
