Star trek into darkness cast
I think that J.J. Abrams did a fairly decent job with his adaptation of the original Star Trek theme and using the "alternate timeline" theory to be able to recreate the series in a fresh new way. What are your thoughts?

When I saw the first movie, I was jacked out of my mind because of the endless possibilities this crew could experience. As long as the powers-that-be don't gum it up, it should be exciting.

I just recently heard that JJ Abrams will not be producing the next Star Trek movie. According to the actor who plays "Scotty" in the new films JJ Abrams is busy with the new Star Wars picture. Also, there's going to be more of the original series feel to the next installment in the new Star Trek series. I hope for a more original series feel to the project. The adversarial Kirk-Spock relationship was interesting but I much rather see them working together than fighting all the time.

For myself I am a long time fan of Star Trek, I don't care if its Original series, Next Generation, Deep Space 9, Voyager, Enterprise or the Animated series. I like all of it because I like Star Trek. As long as the story is good and keeps me entertained I'm happy.

At first I was skeptical, especially with the time continuum reboot. We saw the first one at Disney World in 2009 and I thought it was awesome!. I still have issues with the reboot and lost back history, like JK doesn't have an older brother and the like but I thought the characterization was SPOT ON! The way these new actors captured the essence of the originals, blew me away. The best of them all, IMHO is Dr. McCoy played by Karl Urban. He so captured, the look, the attitude, everything. All in all a great job all around.

Only thing I wasn't impressed with so far were the "bus driver" dress uniforms in "Into Darkness", just Blah!

Robert - I agree with you. I was very skeptical before the 2009 movie. I thought to myself "Oh great, another 'Star Trek - The Motion Picture' without a plot." However, the way that JJ Abrams tied the original timeline and the new one together was great. I also agree with you that Karl Urban does a great job at being the Doctor McCoy we've all grown to love. Chris Pine also does a great job as James T. Kirk. I am glad to see that he's not as stiff as William Shatner could sometimes be. I think they mixed a little bit of Kirk's nemesis from the Academy Finnegan into Chris Pine's character. Oh, I also hate the bus driver's uniform!

PO1 Timothy Miller If you haven't been to IMDB.com and read the trivia section for "Star Trek"(2009) there is a ton of insight into the movie and characterization and one particular comment about Kirk where they tried to make him a cross between Han Solo, Indiana Jones and a few other fictional characters. Interesting read!
