Things you can do or say at basic to ensure additional smoke sessions.
I thought this would be a good way to add some humor to the discussions list.

Things like...:

- Simply ask "Why?" for anything.
- "That was easy." after getting smoked
- Complain about the heat/cold
- Touch the campaign hat.

While being punished with the bear crawl, ask the DS if it's okay to growl and make bear sounds too.

Pack all your uniforms in your checked bag on the flight to Benning. Show up to the first formation of jump school in Jean's, T-shirt and a pair of leather sandals (late 70s).

Thanks Delta Airlines.

Landed on Okinawa in the same uniform in the 80s, some things never change...

This was not at Recruit Training but have a Cpt. with the name Richard Weed and keep paging him "Capt. Dick Weed call on line 3"... First few times he laughed...

-not "un-f**king" yourself fast enough
-Saying "but Drill sergeant..." usually followed by anything in a whiney tone
- comparing 1sg to a rooster *our 1sg in basic walked around and had this weird bob to his head and he looked like a rooster strutting around.
-impersonating a drill sergeant when not told to do so

touch a drill sergeants 'round brown crown' at any time for any reason. After doing such a thing in the chow hall to clean up a countertop while on KP, the DS asked me for my last four of my SSN... got out an index card and said every time I saw him to show him the card and work off the pushups of my last 4.. 5927 pushups that cost me.

We had a guy spill kool-aid on a drill sergeants campaign hat. I am betting, 32 years, that poor bastard is still doing push-ups in MOPP Level 4 being screamed at my a drill sgt.

Fraternizing with the females was a big no-no in Basic. I've seen guys getting smoked just for saying "hi" to her.

What about if she's trying to shoot her shot with you? Just kidding...that happened to me A LOT in Basic. I'd get smoked because the drill sergeants thought they were passing me notes and stuff, then they'd do a health and welfare on me to find them. They got REALLY MAD when they couldn't find any proof.

In my first week at Basic, I had to report to the OOD shack. I hustled there and stood on the mark until the Company Commander bellowed the command “Come”. I marched sharply to the window, and popped off the most impressive British Style salute, Bernard Montgomery would have been proud. Unfortunately I was in the US Coast Guard.

I never found out why I had been summoned. But I did earn 6 hours of disciplinary tours. Run 2, walk 1, 25 cranks at the bell, high porting all the way.

In Marine Boot......refer to yourself as " I "
Have your parents come up so they have to give you a special liberty.......paid dearly for that one

That’s easy. When I went through basic, I would walk the halls on CQ singing the Marine Corps Hymm.
