I have been trying to find a way to ask this question for weeks now. I am a math teacher, not an English teacher so I may know what I want to say but it doesn't always come out how I want it. I am looking for any answers so here goes:

I have been having dreams for years about my military time, waking up in the middle of the night and sitting up on the edge of the bed or jumping out of bed sometimes trying to figure out where I am. For the last couple years I have had a recurring dream about being on a railroad track with a train coming at me. The dream is as clear as day. It's a Norfolk Southern locomotive engine number 4017. In the dream and in my mind I know I need to get off the tracks but my legs won't let me. I always wake up just before the train reaches me. The first time I had it I blew it off however, I have had this same dream no less that six times. I keep asking myself why am I having this dream. I have tried to do research on dreams and what they mean but never seem to find any answers.

I tried talking to my wife about it but she gets to worked up over it. She has enough to worry about with her health without adding this to her list of worries.

Is anyone else having recurring dreams like this? Any suggestions? Might I add, the last time I had it I was hearing the theme song to M*A*S*H.

If I have a weird dream I'll just Google "What does (xxx) dream mean" and get a variety of things.

Like Googling "What do dreams on railroad tracks mean" gets these results:

"Sometimes we might dream that there are obstacles on a train track and the train has to stop otherwise it will crash. The obstacle can mean that there is something in your way in your waking life. You need to take a moment when you wake up to think about what is obstructing you from going forward with your life."

"To dream of a train track symbolizes a journey in life or long term goal that requires commitment. Something that requires you to "stay on track" for a long period of time. Negatively, train tracks may reflect obligations you are having anxiety or second thoughts about."

This is if you're in a car stuck on a track:

"Dream about Car Stuck On Train Tracks symbolises power and control. Your emotions are erupting in an unexpected or violent way. You are denying your emotional urges and needs. Your dream suggests your solid stance on an argument. Something may be perfect for you."

I'm not sure about the theme song to M*A*S*H - have you been watching it lately?

Cpl Vic Burk - I've noticed sometimes I'll have dreams about a show I've watched but not in awhile. If you have it on as background noise, that might be why? *shrug* Not sure.

SFC Kelly Fuerhoff - Whatever is causing it is getting to be annoying. I am not even suicidal. I might have thought about it twenty-five or thirty years ago during a bad period of my life but not really since then.

I dream I am in a hospital trying to provide care to patients and the hospital is an old wear house. I can’t find things etc. I believe it’s due to anxiety about my old job. I also had recurrent dreams about school. Being in a class room with no idea what is going on. Again I think it is related to anxiety.

LTC David Brown I don't doubt I have a lot of anxiety from my job as a teacher. My wife always tells me I am to devoted to my job and take it way to serious but I can't help it, that is how I am wired. This is the youth of our country. They will be responsible for taking care of us, how can we not worry?
