Hello. I've been working towards putting in a warrant packet since I've arrived at my unit. I project that the time I will be finally submitting my packet Will be early 2017. My ETS date is March 2018. I'd like to figure out what I have to do if this happens to be my case? The usarec website doesn't clarify what to do if an applicant has less than 12 months remaining. Thank you!

Re-enlisting would be the easiest option; however, getting selected is not guarantee and it could potentially affect your future plans if you are not trying to stay as an enlisted. A contract extension may take few extra days, but could be your best option if non-selection occurs. I went through the same dilemma, my unit career counselor was doing his research for an extension but it was taking too long so I decided to just re-up for two years. As some stated in a previous comment, upon completion of WOCS, you will enter a new 6 year contract anyways.

The issue is that a reclass has been weighing heavily on my mind,My job is very dissatisfying. I'll most likely suck it up and carry on until I get selected. There is very little career progression In 91H and we work a lot. So if I end up being FQ-NS twice then it'll be difficult for me as a 91H to better myself.

Ok if you want to go Warrant to be a pilot, it doesn't matter your rank, however if you want to stay in the aviation community, but not a pilot, then I believe you rank needs to be a E-5 and above to be selected by the board, as a PFC at this juncture, you have a ways to go. Go talk to a Chief in your unit to get the specifics. Sorry not very well read with your MOS, but just want to ensure you qualify overall to even put in a packet. Good luck!

I had to extend twice to apply, there used to be a minimum TIS to apply and that was 12 months, so I extended to the 12tj month of the board submitted.

Chief Baker, good to have your feedback once again! An extension does sound like the best thing but I've heard they're not giving extensions for my MOS. I'm still on my first term and have one year until my window opens up but I will look into an extension since that seems the best choice.

SPC (Join to see) - The extension may be able to be tagged against your application for the requirement to apply for the NEW MOS. creative ways are out there, but just try to apply get it submitted before your first enlistment is up.

CW5 Sam R. Baker - I don't think that's possible Chief otherwise I'd love to. I have to get prk when I return to Riley and then 3 month recovery period for my flight physical. Then also the time to get the stamp from Ft. Rucker. So that's why I am looking at 2017.

What you mentioned is what I was thinking. I'm just not sure how to go about that but I'm sure the USAREC guys do.

There is a link to ask questions for applicants and potential applicants. Ask the question directly to HRC as opposed to potentially getting wrong information from well meaning people on Rally Point.
