"Our job is to market the Army [to the public]," Mark Davis, deputy assistant secretary of the Army for marketing and the director of the Army Marketing and Research Group, said in a Wednesday interview. " 'Army Strong' just didn't resonate with them. You'd either get an 'eh' sort of response, or you'd get an, 'Of course you're strong. You're supposed to be. You're in the Army. …'

Tough breaks Army. Sorry to be smug but this is yet another one we got right.
The few, the proud, the Marines.

"What does Army Strong even mean" got my vote. My next vote would have been for an explanation of what "an Army of one" was supposed to have meant.

There are are bunch of "white papers" explaining them. Problem is, Soldiers like pictures. The slogan should not drive the culture, the culture should drive the slogan.

To me "Army of One" was the most stupid. I understood the meaning - the whole army, active, reserve, what ever MOS is one unit, but they didn't project it right.

Army of one was originally titled by General Shinseki. My perspective is that it meant that it took the whole army to run an operation. That if you were a cook a motor transport operator or infantryman, etc., it takes all to make the operation happen. Now along with that Army-wide battle cry also everyone wore a beret as well, no oc and Shinseki chose the color of the Rangers.
Anry Strong.... You got me on that one. Maybe part of a recruiting strategy.

I voted Find something and stick with it. And I submit that there was nothing wrong with "Be all you can be." It's timeless. Bring it back!

At least that one made some real sense ... unlike the ones that came after it.

"Be all you can be" was good and still, as far as I'm concerned the best one ever.

I am trying to fully remember this Commercial :paratrooper- "mornin' first sergeant!" LZ fills up...Narrator "We do more before 8 AM than most people do all day" I loved that ARMY advertisement.

I guess the Air Force has changed its recruiting slogan. I was wrong in my reply! I LIKED the slogans in place when I was growing up:
My beloved Navy: "It's not just a job, it's an adventure."
USMC: "The few, the proud. The Marines." (Still in use I believe?)
Army: "Be all that you can be."
Air Force: "Aim high."

You guys need a catchphrase....
"Army, cause... what the hell else were you planning to do."

I'm all for change but if things aren't broken, don't fix it. Unfortunately, that's what the Army does a lot. I loved Be all you can be. I made fun of Army Strong. I used to say there's stupid, and then there's Army stupid. I loved the epic music though. That commercial played during my basic graduation back in 08 and my sister even said the video looked cool and she wanted to join lol.

It's a damn shame that a lot of young people can only communicate on social media with "hash tags."
Whatever happened to the good old days when recruiting slogans were simple and memorable? Your Army had "Be all that you can be" and my beloved Navy had "It's not just a job. It's an adventure."
At least the Marines and "The few, the proud" and even the Air Force's "Aim high" hasn't changed (unless I missed a memo, ha ha)!

You want something that resonated with people...Be all you can be. It is a great tag line just like the Marine Corps has used forever...The few, the proud, the Marines.
Just don't let whomever came up with the new campaign for USMA do this one. I am not a West Point alum, but seriously who thought Army West Point was a good idea?

Be All That You Can Be. Bring it back and admit you screwed up changing it in the first place. The only other option is to ask the Marines to do it for us, but we might not like what they come up with for us. The Army needs to save the brazillions on reinventing the wheel every few years and stick with the
classics. Aww yeah!
