What do you think about the new standards that are about to be released in AR 670-1?
I addressed this in another post on the subject already, and my answer is still the same.
NCOs are currently having issues enforcing the standards already in place, having an updated and/or new version of the 670-1 is not going to make a difference, other than updating the wear of the current uniform the same problems that are occurring with the current version of the regulation are going to continue, until NCOs stop being afraid to enforce standards and also live by them as well, it is just same shit different day, nothing new here, no extraordinary life's bread discovery.
Nothing drastic will come about except more complaining about not being able to get Soldiers to comply, and a new tool to use for downsizing if someone along the chain decides it can work to get rid of people they want to get rid off to save some of their butt kissers and brown nosers that most likely don't cut it in the real Army but look good to their CDR's.
We have had grooming standards for generations of SMs and with the exception of a small percentage, there has been no real issues, so the continual upgrades and changes proposed within the new versions seems pointless to me unless it is going to have a real effect on someone doing their jobs, the previous standards were fine and were enforceable, so why change or add to them in the new version. Sounds like someone was looking for some recognition and maybe a promotion on who came up with these changes to be included for whoever put the bug in the SMA's ear on that aspect and many others I have read about, not so much on the true functionality of the changes.
what ever happened to the days when an NCO told you something, it was "Roger" and you moved out?
I respect the reg enough to completely leave the Army out of my off time. If I'm off and I'm not clean shaven, then I don't go on post for any reason until I look right. When I'm on vacation and I have a 25 day face blanket going on, my ID card doesn't see the light of day. Is it right? Sadly, no. But as many have previously stated, your face needs a break sometimes.
