Prior Air Force Master Sergeant (E-7) heading to Army BCT (Ft. Benning) as a Sergeant First Class (E-7) in 3 weeks. What does basic look like as an E-7?

If done right, all are equal and his rank is nil and void till he qualifies in basic and graduates like the others.

Oh, dear lord baby Jesus.
First of all, you actually read the reg?
I imagine you’ll have to do all the events like any other soldier, and pass.

Sure do! I had to do everything they did and do it well because SNCOs lead the way!

It’s too bad this was posted back in December of 2018. I would have told this individual that he was going into a TRADOC environment, not a permanent assignment position. In a training environment, you are a trainee, not an E7. Although some customs and courtesies are extended, and there are some legal requirements such as fraternization, for all intents and purposes you are a trainee. When you attend advanced NCO schooling, you are treated as a student, not a person in. A leadership position. The instructors will expect you to be more experienced and mature and thus able to handle the training environment better than PVT slick sleeve. So, don’t go into this with any expectations of privilege simply because your a senior NCO. Hopefully you’ll be given some considerTion in living environment but don’t count on it. It may mean a barracks with little to no privacy as well as fire watch, CQ, guard duty weapons cleaning and all the other niceties of a training environment

Wow, interesting, maybe a reduced refresher but not full basic, even most police agencies won't require a seasoned police officer "transferring"to complete the entire police academy again however, a few "rigid organizations" will require a seasoned police officer transferring to complete the entire 18 to 22 week academy

Nope. Full 11 weeks in Ft. Benning just like a civilian.

Chief, thanks for the updates on this post. I just had my Army aviation flight board and if all goes well, I'll be following in your footsteps. Basic is a requirement for me as well, however my recruiter recently informed me that there is a 5 week prior service course occurring in August he wants to try to get me in.

not responding to your question directly . i'd like to mention that when i went in as prior-service (as an 'old man' of 29), most of the drill staff took it real easy on us 'old people' (we were 3-4 around 30yo in that co.)
