The "issue" with VP Biden was his "gaffes." He wasn't considered a serious contender because he lacked the "gravitas" that other candidates had in previous campaigns. It wasn't that he wasn't capable. Remember, he's been in DC a LONG time, and doesn't have a series of scandals following him around. He's essentially a "moderate" Democrat, with TONS of experience, and is pretty well liked across party lines. He just lacked the "Presidential Image."
But let's play a game of "relativity and comparison." He has more executive experience and congressional experience than Ms. Clinton by a huge margin. He's clean as a whistle. He's not as far out there "socially" as Mr. Sanders. His gaffes are nothing compared to Mr. Trump. Heck, he's a known commodity. You know exactly what you are getting.
If he was put in the running today, he would immediately tank Ms. Clinton's chances, and there's a good chance that he could tank Mr. Sanders as well.

Don't forget Joe also would get the so called "Sympathy " vote by many older voters who have experienced the loss of a son & still carried on with our country's business.. My gang of Old Farts at Dunkin Donuts were arguing this issue this AM & it makes sense to me.. And I have been saying since day one Hillary's email scandal is a big deal & the FBI could just indict her. Not to be laughed at or ignored; if you take the time to dig into the weeds on this issue.. Also much will depend on how Hillary does Thurs before the Trey Howdy Committee... It might just be sink or swim for her..IMHO..
