Does anybody have a badge that sparks a lot of conversation? While I was in, I was awarded the Army Space Badge, and people would ask about often. The true qualifications were; you had to attend atleast one of a select few space operations course and and serve for atleast 12 months within space command. In my case I attended the Satellite Network Coordinators course or 1C course. Now you receive the badge as soon as you graduate from one of the courses. If you ask someone with the badge you usually get some sort of sarcastic reply, like its the satellite door gunner badge. Lol. Any one else have any cool badges they don't mind spoiling for the rest of us??

On Feb. 2, 2011, the Army chief of staff approved the establishment of the Space Badge. The Space Badge is awarded to active Army, Army Reserve and National Guard Soldiers who successfully complete appropriate space-related training and attain the required Army space cadre experience. There are three levels of the Space Badge: basic, senior and master.

Awesome! This is my first time seeing it great job.

Wow, just wow! There should be different levels of proficiency. Level 1: Ground Control. Level 2: Atmospheric Achiever. Level 3: Out of this world Level 4: Buck MFin' Rogers! Gunny all I can say is go easy on them. Oh Wait, don't forget about entry level training title of Space Cadet!!! Bahahaha! I do apologize in advance for anyone's feelings I hurt, I'm sure the badge is warranted but this one is too good to pass up!

They had one explosion in Arkansas in 1965 and on in 1980. Liquid fuel rocket motors had always been dangerous to fuel and store. Luckily we have all solid fuel motors except for the PSRE on the Minuteman III ICBM.

MSgt Mike Mikulski, thanks to the START and SALT treaties and them allowing only one RV on each missile you don't need a big launch platform any more. Too bad. LOL

B national communications service
SPC Chad Kolod, here's my contribution although it is by no means exotic, nor did it require any special training or qualification. People would ask about it though.
The National Communications System identification badge is an unusual badge, in that it will never be worn again since the organization was dissolved on 6JUL12!
Everyone assigned to the National Communications System (DOD) was authorized to wear it, so it was certainly not rare. However, I'm sure there are few members of RP that are aware of this ole badge! The NCS badge was worn centered on the right breast pocket of the Class A and Class B Army uniforms (and corresponding uniforms for the other services), and DOD issued their own memorandum authorizing the wear of the badge. I served in the NCS from NOV94 to MAY98.

Couldn't get a pic (but, if I do, I will be sure to post). One of my classmates had the opportunity to go to dive school. He graduated. Years later, he graduated from flight school -- earning his Naval Aviator wings. From a distance, he looked like a RECON Marine --Scuba bubble over Aviators. At least he had a chance should he have ever ejected over water.

However, I believe the warfare designator pin in the photograph is the coveted Space Shuttle Door Gunner.

I'd get asked about this one. We'd just say it's a Ninja Throwing Star.

As a 19k Tanker, I was issued a mechanics badge. To this day not sure if I should be proud of it or embarrassed. Definitely got me unnecessary attention during inspections.

I was in Sinop Turkey in 89 to 90 and heard that 98js were authorized some sort of space badge from the AF about a year later. We were Intel not missiles.

All the idiotic comments here, are why I don’t bother wearing my Spings.
Which reminds me, I have to fill out another form 4187... I’m eligible for the upgrade to Master (wreath)
