Full Metal Jacket. Boot camp scenes of marching where the three main characters are always marching facing the camera. Even in obliques. Marching forward, Pyle is in a squad leaders position. So is cowboy. Neither one were squad leaders.

Hair on Marines. Always too much hair. Improper salutes by "Marines". In action scenes they're talking normal not yelling over the noise. As long as I went there improper arm and hand signals.

NCO's being addressed as "sir" by lower enlisted (bonus annoyance when an officer addresses an NCO as "sir").

Yup. Technically if he was Afrika Korps that would be "okay" as they fought the British and the Brits had a ton of them from Lend Lease. So it could be captured. However, the Brit guns had drums not straight mags. Also note that the German is wearing "rifle" bullet pouches...

Good catch, but that is why I used that image to illustrate the point of my question...

SCANDEL where the indoor Marine Sentry is standing beside the door holding his cover in his hand. Not under arms or anything. Just standing there with his cover out in front. Does this REALLY happen?

I love the "haircuts, the beards (and their not SEALS either), and most of all the medals on the BDU's , I don't think anyone in Hollywood, at least in the last 30 years, has ever been a member of the Armed Forces. The old black and white World War 2 movies were the best, most of the actors in those actually at one time served!
Clark Gable, Jimmy Stewart to name just a couple.
