What's the difference between Cavalry and ARMOR 19E. Cavalry travel light and hit hard and BUG OUT, yet are always seeking ARMOR detach MBT AFV of ARMOR OOB and give that MBT to CAV. What can CAV do that ARMOR can not ? A: Read a map........

as you have seen in this thread - there is a lot of banter going on between members of both MOS's, but the bottom line is - Infantry has had the EIB, and CIB since Jesus was a private with only the medics having a comparable award - So - if you want to be a member of a time honored, respectable, and all around baddest MF in the valley , you go Infantry - if you just want to say "I did some infantry stuff" go Cav Scout. Infantry has The Rangers - quite possibly the baddest of the baddest MF's in the valley, Cav Scouts have a stetson

11B (infantryman) walks first in to fight 19D (cav scout) they ride around and watch from a far and come in if the infantry need help.

It has been a minute saying 18 yr since I was an 11B all joking asside the answers you are getting has been the same since I joined. Except now 11B has a Stryker and ride until dismount then walk. 19D ride till they die. But both do have different missions and we did joke about the 1 11B in the 3/9 that decided to go to the dark side and drive everywhere. RLTW!!

Infantrymen close in and destroy the enemy. 19D, cav scouts I believe, they find the enemy and relay that information to higher ups. They engage the enemy if necessary. But since they are a tactical asset, their standing orders are to avoid contact at all costs.

To hear the truth about what the difference is: 11B's are the fighting force for the Army; 19D's are the jock strap which supports the fighting force.

SFC David Xanten - To suggest that Infantry need 19D's to have balls is the most moronic thing one could say, but then again your statement is from a 19D. Should we expect anything less? Let me guess you were wearing your spurs when you wrote this LOL

Actually I am a 11E, and was responding to your comment regarding 11B’s. By the way, an Armored Cavalry Squadron has much more capabilities then any Infantry Battalion will ever have.

Very true, Armored Cavalry Squadron's do possess more capabilities than any Infantry Battalion, but the roles are very different. That concept was the norm some time back however, now there is an integration. To give you an idea where once the ACR was a self sufficient entity the implementation of Brigade Combat Teams or BCT's are what the Army now has. Meaning that as an Armored Cavalry Squadrons is self sufficient so to are Battalion Combat Teams. Where once the ACS held the full capabilities it is the same for all Battalion Combat Teams. Every mission we went out on we had our own armor, air, indirect and logistic support.

SFC David Xanten - Where once the 11E was the armor crewman it has been replaced with 19K. The same for 11D which are now 19D. When I first joined there were four 11 series identifiers 11B, 11C (mortarman), 11H (anti-armor) and 11M (mechanized). Since the changes there are now only two 11B and 11C. The Army has since supplemented the duty of 11H and 11M as addition to the scope of 11B.
