Open innovation 1
This is something I brought up at a History round table at my University and thought it would make a great topic here.

In your opinion, what do you think is the greatest invention/innovation in the History of Humans.

Inventions like the Typewriter, or Innovation like frozen vegetables.

Rules. You can not duplicate anyone's answer. If someone puts your first thought down, put your second thought. You must defend your opinion with a few sentences. This is a very broad category with no real limitations.

What is mine.... Heavier than air manned flight. Orville and Wilbur Wright, Dec 17, 1903. This is when humans truly move into another era. We are no longer held in check by the bounds of gravity, we no longer float we soar and explore in ways never thought possible. Everything from military use to transportation, flight comes to revolutionize even time itself as no longer is a trip around the world in days, weeks or months, it is measured in hours. The great thing is flight is still evolving.

SGT Richard H., I spent many cold nights wrapped up in my poncho liner usually in the snow. Kept me warm even when wet. I still have two poncho liners in the old woodland pattern.

I can actually see the historical implications of it. If we go back to the Civil War, we see that most uniforms were mostly wool. While it does keep in the body heat imagine marching in a down poor with a wool uniform on in the summer heat! I think your poncho liner was a game changer in the military when it came to taking care of the troops. Thanks for the post.

Since so many of the 'good ones' are already taken I'm going to go with music - serves no other purpose than to sooth the savage beast. In the vastness of the universe Earth may well be the only place where music exists. Based on mathematics it could be a universal language, music also can help reduce chronic pain by more than 20% and can alleviate depression by up to 25% and termites eat wood twice as fast when listening to heavy metal music.

That is a very good answer. Music has played a huge part in mankind. Studies of Caves and Catacombs in France have suggested, because of distinct acoustic properties, ancient humans used sound to teach their children by mimicking the sounds of animals with the help of them.

And think of the influence of Musicians have had on human kind through the ages. From early ancestors passing down history to one another in verse and song, to Beethoven and Mozart defining the ages, to popular artists now who can play a concert and raise millions of dollars for dire needs. Music is part of our lives and I think you are hitting on something that there are ways we don't even understand just how powerful music really is. Awesome answer. Thanks for the post!
