One of My favorite Bible Quotes is: PSALM 144: 1-2: Blessed be The Lord, My rock, Who trains my arms for battle. Who prepares my hands for war. He is my love, my fortress; He is my stronghold , My savior and my shield, my place of refuge------

I am by no means a religious person but I believe in this with every fiber of my being. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13

PO3, I think voluntarily giving your life for a friend is a concept that is hard to understand unless you're a SM. Thanks for comment, nice to have you aboard (pun intended).

SSG that's awesome. I'm thinking about getting "Bleed with me and forever be my brother" tattooed on my chest. Its a paraphrased quote from Shakespeare.

I really like this image. Makes me want to create a mural with that same idea, but have me in full battle rattle, with Jesus putting on my ACH.

I was raised Catholic but I guess I'm not really much of anything right now. My mentor at AIT gave me this one that really helped. Matt 6:33 "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

I took it to mean, do the right thing no matter how little it seems to pay off at the time.

Seek His kingdom; follow Him in obedience, Accept Jesus Christ as your savior, give your life to God daily, and most important be totally obedient to His will. And all things will be given to you; if, it's the will of God for you to have them, "for your good"! Its one beautiful scripture and God will and does keep his promises to his sons and daughters in Christ. God Bless Jason

Old Testament - Psalm 91:10 - 11 "No evil will befall you nor will any plague come near your tent. For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways." (He guards me and keeps me safe regardless of circumstance)

New Testament - Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." (He will empower me to overcome all obstacles to complete His will for my life)

I like the first one a lot (Psalm 91:10). Great meaning, especially for a deployed SM away from loved ones

Matthew 7:1 - Judge not, that ye be not judged.

I like this one because, if followed, we would have a much more peaceful world. Also, I love the fact that nearly everyone misquotes it.

I know many churches that turn a blind eye to this verse. I can't remember what ancient philosopher said it but I once read a quote: "It is in the nature of religions to judge despite an almost universal prohibition to do so by their own teachings."

“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

Never been a fan of religion. I do not buy into it 100%, however, there are some morale teachings that can aid man in their "mortal" form.

My favorite quote:

Proverbs 27:17 "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."

I always thought this was fitting as a service member. When you are in the younger ranks you have a great support group amongst your peers.

This could be applied to any rank in the military. We need to quite being self centered about our careers and start helping one another achieve their goals as well

For daily reading I prefer The Living Bible, but for the 23rd Psalm that i learned as a child the KJV:

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

I have two actually:

Matthew 7:1-6 "Judge not, that you be not judged. 2 For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. 3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. 6 Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you."

Leviticus 19.33-34 "When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. 34 The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God."

Here are two that got me through a very low point in my life!

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. Matt 6:34
And
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Lam 3:22-23
