Coast Guard doesn't wear American Flag (normally), so I'd go with my Cuttermans Insignia. Over five years sea duty on five different cutters - CGC Castle Rock (WAVP-383), CGC General Greene (WSC-140), CGC Casco (WAVP-370, CGC Sherman (WHEC-720) and CGC Gallatin (WHEC-721).

Marines haven't worn unit patches (officially) since the 1940s....They're all red & gold, except one.....Mine! Blue diamond, with the 5 stars of the Southern Cross in white, with a large red "1", withe the white letters GUADALCANAL" vertically inside the "1".....1st Marine Division...
