What is your unofficial or self-prescribed therapy?

My wife recently asked why I prefer the quiet of the National Forest land behind my house to the warmth and comforts of home... rain or shine. I didn't really have an answer for her. She tends to look at my "escapes" as she calls it, in a negative light. I look at it as my off the books therapy.
No I'm not officially diagnosed with PTS, many say I should head to the VA... that's another story. Yes I did a combat deployment to Afghanistan's Oruzgan Province in 2003. I self medicate. There are times where I find myself extremely frustrated with the day to day activities in a house with 2 kids and a dog. 6-8 miles later, stomping through the woods, I'm healed. My head is clear, short fuze has been lengthened. . .
So I ask you RP Community, what's your unofficial therapy? What centers you?
My hope is to share techniques that work for some, so that others can benefit as well.

Retreating to my cabin in the Adirondack Mountains. I refer to it as my happy place and feel blessed to be able to do so.

Heading to the lake with my fishing pole, and my guitar. Whichever happens, happens.

Ice Fishing is great, but now health is down a bit and have to have someone go with to drill the holes in ice and sit out there in a warm little hut like on the movie grumpy old men. Some people just camp out there for days at a time on Lake of the Woods. Wish I could find someone to put up the little cabin to stay in and help out here. I have the building permits and can get materials but it would be helping around here. I am not that bad I hope to get along with. lol...But I bought a hunting license to late most my buddies already had their plans so missed it this year. I like my venison for jerky and stuff. But to listen to a guitar out in the fish house is one thing I haven't had the chance to hear yet.

As I thought about the question, I realized the time I spend hiking with my daughter is my medicine. Loved one and nature...helps put everything back in its proper place.

Pleasure reading, running (with or without my toddler, and especially when it's not for a PT test), and taking walks with my toddler and pointing out the little things, like barking dogs, animals in people's yards (we live in a more rural area), etc.

I take a daily walk with my two dogs the distance is determined by weather and how I feel. But the biggest factor is do I need more me time to sort something out.

Jogging. Sometimes I listen to music but most times I just like to run and think about stuff. Just broke my hip so I more than likely will switch over to biking until I'm up and running again.

My therapy is art. Painting in particular. I was an official US Army artist when I deployed to Iraq- I created quite a few paintings in country given the fact I was also flying Blackhawks for my normal day job ! Now that I am retired , I still enjoy working on artwork that commemorates the awesome work of our servicemen and women. It's truly therapy to work on such work. Taking the time to get the details correctly depicted as well as a chance to empathize with your subject a little . Good fun for a good reason. It always is a treat to see the finished work especially when you can see how it affects people. Paint, it's therapy and beauty all in one. Try it!

I used to drive truck in Germany and if I got a weekend off I would set up and easel and do oil paintings of things around Germany. V. Gearhart. I still do some crafting mosting what I can do from bed now days. I wish I could find someone who understands and can help here and give them a guest house to stay in. Then I could go out a bit more to paint or sketch in the wilderness or take photos and bring them home to do here. very relaxing things.
