CH (CPT) (Join to see), I would suggest that a great chaplain and supervisory chaplain requires spiritual maturity, wisdom, character above reproach, trustworthiness as a start.

The importance of cooperation with compromise and an in-depth approach in dealing with the perspectives of the soldiers and having a high regard of cultural diversity.
The fostering of tolerance and restraint ensuring equality for all that presently serve. It is imperative to outline how policies and regulations governing the chaplain's assigned roles and duties.
Blessings to you

A great chaplain has the ability to see the full spectrum of organizations that can help someone.

I can't realy speak as an authority, but the two traits that I desired to see in a chapline are:
1. An individual that has a heart for his soldiers and a mutual respect for the conviction of others.
2. An individual that is firm in his own convictions regardless of whether it will win him personal acclaim or shame.
