Bernie Sanders is running on the platform of social revolution, promising equality on many different fronts and the fueling attacks on Corporate America. Hillary Clinton speaks with a much more moderate voice in her appeal to all political factions in the all-too-likely scenario of a Clinton-Trump ticket, while still claiming to tout progressive ideals. With "The Bern" seemingly aflame everywhere around, why is the former senator and Secretary of State in many ways "running the table" amongst Democrats (and Republicans distancing themselves from neoconservative and populist ideals)? After Super Tuesday, Clinton overwhelmingly took control of delegates coming from the South- this speaks volumes when considering she is obviously appealing to both minority and older majority voters in those states, something obviously key to winning the Democratic nomination.

We're all mostly veterans here- where do you stand? What do you think (particularly as veterans) about her potentially becoming your next Commander-in-Chief, regardless of whether you think she'll win or not? Both conservatives and liberals (and anywhere in between) are welcome to chime in.

Well lets see........ her husband started the three strikes thing, the coke vs crack thing, had people fooled for a minute. What did we like about her? When they came to Bosnia (Tuzla Main) they brought two cokes and Hershey bars for everyone in theater. Yay..... the ONLY cool part was a future SMA was there in then CSM Tilley. He was actually a nice man to talk to when you're a PFC talking to a CSM.

I was in Camp McGovern when they came. I ate dinner with them and the Secretary of Defense Hon William Cohen. We had to put are bolts to are weapons on our left breast pocket.
I know Bill brought those two things you named but how can you forget the Internet and the technological boom we had? The economy was booming back then. He left a surplus. A lot of great things came from that Administration.

SFC Tyrone Almendarez - I remember having to take the bolts out too lol. Small world. Bill didn't bring us the internet being DARPA had invented it and it was in limited military use since the 60's. What Bill did jump on smartly was the techboom when the internet was released to the masses. So I agree with you that it was some "good times" if you look at it that way, and there was a financial surplus.
But he also didn't help anyone with the three strikes law. If you were in the prison industry, you were happy as all hell. He just guaranteed you money for as long as there are criminals. Note with this law, have you heard of anyone having their sentences redone even with Bill knowing and admitting the law was wrong? When you have the crack vs. coke laws that make the possession and selling of crack worse than cocaine, what are you telling folks? Everyone knew then that coke was the recreational drug of choice for the wealthy and "in" crowd, whereas crack was mostly seen in urban areas. So you make a law that affects people on that massive a scale based on economic and class status? But neglect that to make crack....you have to have coke?

I feel you. Crack had a ratio to 100:1. Things have changed bro. Back then crack was a big deal. Of course the government reacted the way they did. Of course the ones who felt it the most were the minority in poor places but their was also smart people like us that avoided in being in situations that could get you hemmed up. I have people that I know who were affected from laws like that but at the same time it's one of those slippery slopes. You selling crack to moms with babies in their hands. I grew up in Brooklyn and I seen the affects of crack. I've seen lives ruined over that. With that said Clinton did a good job with the economy while president.

I like Bernie's vision, however, I find it hard for him to win because people are still afraid of socialism, ignorant to the fact that they're in a democracy that is required to have both capitalism and socialism to make it work.

What people failed to understand is that Capitalism without Socialism is called Fascism, and Socialism without Capitalism is called Communism.

PO2 (Join to see) - Most of us, such as myself, have never stated that the US has (for much of its history) combined a socialist and capitalist society. What my point was is purely that it flies in the face of the whole premise of the Constitution. The Constitution is based on individual liberty and common defense.

SFC Justin Scott - Completely fair and accurate points, especially the one on social security. But just like social security, the way the constitution is applied must evolve over time. I simply hope that they evolve in the right direction, to help the most citizens possible.

PO2 (Join to see) - On that, I have to disagree. We should never manipulate our interpretation to meet the wishes of the time. That is a very dangerous premise. If we, as a society, feel things need to be different than written, then we should go through the process to amend the Constitution.

PO2 (Join to see) - sorry guy, labeling anything for profit as simple capitalism is wrong. See mercantilism, feudalism, "new" Chinese communism, ethno-economics (Japan), crony capitalism, fascism, kleptocracy, European style capitalism etc.

Your Roman example does pass the smell test on one thing IF both parties consent, an exchange happens. As many folks trying to inform you of your paucity of knowledge on the matter (Bernie Sanders the rich socialist who never worked a day in his life, as someone who knows something about economics?), the US has never been a pure example of capitalism but it was probably the most successful of all nations who got into it.

Capitalism depends on certain things (social creations) to exist ie rule of law, certain levels of freedom, rights of the individual, property rights, means of exchange, CONSENTING parties etc. That's why it's rare and eroding in most of the places it has brought such wealth and liberty to so many. A nation like ours that has experienced almost stagnant economic conditions for the last 7 years while trying almost every socialist panacea dreamed up highlights what happens when the central planners get in charge.

SSG Drew Cook I think Hillary is a bad choice. Then again I feel that way about the DNC and the RNC in general. I heard her talking last night about how America never stopped being great, and I wanted to punch a kitten. Really? We don't have a huge unemployment rate? Our economy is not bouncing based around the price of oil right now? We are not lagging behind other first world nations in education? The only thing that America is number one in is the ability to wage a war. So I think the first thing she needs to do is stop spraying sunshine up our asses and tell it like it is, in the interest of fairness, I will say this is true of most of the candidates.

The caring grandmother approach to life, the truthfulness, her eagerness to set the record straight, her deceitful ways, her money making scams, but mostly for me, was that fireside chat where she said "What does it matter?!" Those words just truly enamored me to no end...not!

That movie was made by Michael Bay, I'm surprised he hasn't thought up a reasoning to put explosions in ending credit sequences yet.
