What is the longest for you? For me it is currently the rank of SSG, I held that rank for 5 years and 9 months.
I am curious to know how long it was for others, and maybe the reason they feel it was.

I've currently held E-5 since Feb 2006. Have been #1 or #2 on the list for the last 6 years. I just haven't been in the right place at the right time. Army National Guard.

So far, I've been a SPC for about 18 months. I wore PFC for less than a month, and that's not on my ERB. I never wore PV2, and I was a PVT for about 4 1/2 months.
I think that's probably a unique situation.

Great post. I held the rank of SPC/E-4 for three years because I transitioned into a new MOS then I held SSG/E-6 for almost three years before transitioning to the Officer Corps.

Got promoted to SSG while on active duty in 1996. Appointed WO1 in the USAR 25 July 2008. 12 years as a SSG. I think that's some kind of record. Left active duty for the Reserve in summer 2001

As of next month, 3 years as an E-4. Reason is my unit will not send me to WLC.

Lance Corporal / E 3. I spent my enlistment in that rank after being on a medical boards and other holds for 2 full years of it. Finally got cleared and standards were getting tougher. Luckily I even made Corporal/ E4 before I got out. Then again is was filling billets as an e3 that normally would have been Sergeant/ E5 or even Staff Sergeant such as leading Marines in my shop and answering for them, making sure the got there stuff done and got plenty of time to hit the gym etc.

@SPC Cody Voye - you need to seriously consider a change of scenery (er unit) Sounds like your unit either is not looking out for you or is overstrength at the sGT level and has no place to put you when you graduate WLC.

1SG (Join to see) SFC good post. I have to say my current which is E4 unfortunately. Since December for 1999. But if we go by Army time, December 15, 2005 when I came over from the Navy. So I hope I don't retire as an E4. I would love to an NCO and its something I am still fighting for!!
