What reasons have Veterans given you for NOT using Rallypoint?

I've told a few about it, but I rarely get a legit reason, which tells me it's laziness or they think it's all hype.

I didn't know about this site until I accidentally stumbled upon it. I have tried to get a few Vets to sign up; some have, some haven't - the reasons vary. I like it because it keeps me "in the loop", it's crazy how much has changed since I ETS'ed. I do admit there are a lot of similarities to Facebook and other social media sights but that doesn't stop me from logging in to see what's going on!

One of my invitees joined but is inactive. Don't know why, but perhaps because they were all retired they may not see the military community as being as unique as I see it.
Same old, same old?

I have been out of the marine corps for 50 years and do not have the paperwork to verify my self, so I do not get on here very often because I like to know who I am talking to.

It's completely up to the individual. It's NOTHING you can enforce and it's not laziness at all, maybe they want nothing to do with a military website. Focus on other things rather than thinking they're lazy because they don't want to join. It's not that serious.

You might find this place a little confrontational and insulting if you are a supporter of President Obama, or a supporter of Secretary Clinton.

Interesting enough Rallypoint is the only Social Media platform I'm involved in. I don't have time to update everyone in the world of what I had for breakfast or what I'm doing today. I enjoy Rallypoint because of the professionalism and some of the things I can take away and use in my professional life.

I wish I could say the same, but there's not enough Linux users or music producers here to bounce ideas off of.

Many of the Seniors I have dialog with (including myself) do not like wading through some of the more FaceBookesque posts. They want to come on to share with and support service members with issues and situations that once addressed provides resolution for many. They do not like wading through posts about celebrity gossip etc., they also are concerned that many who share posts do so with a complete disregard for the kind of respect we as service members should all be accustomed to. Often times people rant using abusive language in personal attacks. There is nothing wrong with expressing ones passion and even dropping a four letter word if you believe that helps depict how much something bothers you, it does not allow you or me ti direct the same words at an individual. This is not PC it is respect.

I usually see that in political posts. Following appropriate tags can mitigate the sifting, if the Original poster uses appropriate tags.

Perhaps they have yet to find value for the time invested navigating the content they aren't interested in.

Some folks will use less than stellar language and name calling instead of debating.
