What ribbons/medals do you get for deploying to Saudi Arabia?

First and foremost, duty anywhere is not a guarantee for any awards or citations, but the length of service and type of tour matter. We have became really accustomed to the everyone gets a trophy for doing our duty and the KSM is just one example. The Army awards more than any other service, so you will salad up the ASU some when you return. Thanks for your service PFC Augustine.

GWOTE for sure, maybe Armed Forces Expeditionary, but I think you can only get one or the other. Somebody with more current service will have to chime in.

The AFEM has a component that specifies an armed enemy force. Depending on what you are doing there this may not be met. He also did not specify if he was there for a named operation, which would clear this up. I know we have some ADA guysnthere defending against Houthi missiles from Yemen.

Depending on your length of tour, you should get the Overseas Service Ribbon (unless your tour ends up being less than 9 months). Depending on the AO that Saudi Arabia is part of, then possibly the GWOT-E or OIR ribbon/medal.

Go to the Army G1 Awards page on the HRC website and review the FAQs and awards related MILPER messages. Might be GWOTEM, might be OIR service Medal provided you are there long enough to meet the requirement.

The operation on your orders will determine awards, if any. If it is just an overseas tour, could just be an OSR.
