Being retired.
1SG Ronald Rieck
I loved being an Army Drill sergeant, hands down. The positive impact that you have into transforming civilians into soldiers was amazing. Did it active duty, then in the Reserves for almost 12 years combined. A hard job to be sure, but I felt like I was making a difference.

MSG David Chappell - Everybody was glad to see the tankers roll up especially the Infantry when it was cold or rainy. They always migrated to us when we fired up the tanks.

MSG David Chappell - You are right those guys were mechanized infantry or "crunchies" as we called them. My brother was 11B so I always caught flack for being a DAT/ CDAT.

I got to be in the company of Marines in my job as well. Then again, my guys would have argued that I was just as much a Marine as they were.

Hospital Corpsman, because you get to care for people, your stationed aboard ships, small boats, submarines, clinics, hospitals, isolated duty, independent duty, aviation, special ops, Marines (my favorite) infantry or rifle company, light armor, heavy armor, and the sister services. The most awesome job going.

I am pretty sure I was in Special Forces. My 1SG used to tell me all the time, "Howell you sure are special." Then I would do push ups until I was drowning in pool of my own sweat. That counts right?

I believe you are referring to the VERY Special Forces. Clinton deployed them to Iraq in the '90s:
