What is your favorite or best 'Grog Ceremony ' recipe? What do your ingredients signify? Finally, when is it appropriate and NOT appropriate to have a Grog Ceremony? Who typically has the BEST Grog Ceremonies?

no PT belt required in the creation, so no OPORD going out for this one...the only thing I'll hint on is the final product is about 40-60 proof for my recipie

We had a Grog Ceremony at our NGAUS Conference this year. It included Amaretto, Bourbon, French Whine, Tequila, water, and a couple other things I can't remember. That may be tied to the two glasses I ended up drinking...

Probably the most memorable Grog Ceremony I've been a part of was as a member of the 1-194 CAB (HBCT.) The 194th Tank Battalion in WWII was a part of the initial defense of the Philippines and ended up being part of the Bataan Death March. Two of the survivors from our Battalion attended our ball and were the first to sample the grog. It was definitely a humbling experience.

While I was in Germany, I was put in charge of a grog ceremony for a BDE ball. In addition to all of the "normal" ingredients, we added a few that wowed the crowd. The first was what we called the life blood of Army Aviation, 23699 engine oil. It was actually Jaegermeister, but we cleaned out a 23699 oil can and padded a glass iside which we filled with the Jaeger. It comes out looking the same and the head table looked quite nervous, until we brought out the bottle and watched them sigh with relief, lol. The second was near the end of the ceremony and represented the smoke from the oil fires in Kuwait, dry ice. 800 people oohed and ahhed when smoke flowed out of the huge punch bowl and across the floor. Needless to say our grog was a hit with both the BDE and the Command teams! But, other than the "party favor" ingredients listed above, to quote CSM Oldsen below....."One does not simply reveal the grog recipe"
