Ah yes, "Jody calls," we've all heard them, marched to them, run to them, or called them out in a motivated tone; so, what are some of your all time favorites? As this is an inter-service thread, we want to hear from all of you--Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Reserve of each of the above, and the National Guard--so what are your favorite service-specific cadences, and do you have an old standby or trusty go-to cadence? Perhaps it was one that was once popular but somehow fell out of use, or maybe an just an old standard or unique favorite. Please feel free to share any photos, videos, sound files, stories, associated memories, and/or anything else needed to help to tell your story. I'm sure that an old classic or two comes to mind, so "one, two, three, four-or... this is what we're here for-or..." So, pull up a keyboard and let's get this thing started, thank you for all that you do, and... see you all in the discussion threads!

I hear the choppers coming,
They're flying overhead.
They've come to get the wounded,
They've come to get the dead.

(chorus)

My buddy's in a foxhole,
A bullet in his head,
The medic says he is wounded,
But I know that he's dead

(chorus)

I ran to tell the CO
About my buddy's head
But when I got there,
The CO was dead

(chorus)

And now the battle's over,
and smoke is all around.
We wanted to go home,
But we're six feet underground.

I was one of the last ones to be platoon leader during WLC. I was in desperate need of a cadence that had not been used yet. I resorted to using Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. I thought for sure I would get made fun of but the instructors and the platoon thought it was a pretty good idea.

I was always recuited by my 1SG (1SG Ryan), when I was in A 1/12th FA, especially for PT. I used to do a variation of the Beach Boys tune "Little Old Lady from Pasadena." It was "The Little Old Lady from Lawton, OK," and it fit.....to a tee!

This has been one of my favorites for a while. I am trying to integrate it a bit more into the Color Guard for my American Legion Post. I've been appointed Captain and I need to get these guys and gals into some better shape.

this one always got the Soldiers motivated.

Momma told Sally not to go downtown,
Too many mechanics hangin' around.
Sally got the ass and she went anyway,
She didn't come home till late the next day.
Three months later, all was well,
Six months later, she began to swell,
Nine months later, out it came,
It was a whole 88 crew swingin' a chain.
Singin', "I'm Hardcore"
Motivated.
Dedicated.
Combat.
Ready.
Rollin'.
Steady.
We got the right, the right to rock steady,
We got to the right to roll when we're ready.
But when the time comes I got to be ready,
Willing and able to rock steady.

Good question sir

How about this one, how many people can get out there and CALL cadence. Grief these days you have to beg NCOs to get out there and call cadence. Marching or running. Its sad.

hey hey Captain Jack... met me down by the rail road track... put a sea bag in my hand... said, I'm gonna be a sailing man...

Short and dumb, but one of my faves... the other that we did PT to A LOT was, "Row row, row yur boat"
