So, maybe you had one cut out and posted in your workspace, on your refrigerator, garage, or even in your home office. Maybe it reminded you of a situation or past event; some are works of art in their own right, some are astute military or political commentary, and others are entertaining or just plain fun. Some may speak to a particular point in history, or accurately reflect your thoughts or service. Whatever 'it' is please feel free to share your favorites, and if you can't find the one you're looking for, no problem... just provide your best description, and we'll all help locate it! It could've been an old classic, something more realistic or modern, a non-military comic that addressed military subject matter/somehow relatable to the military experience, or something different altogether or that no one's seen before. This should be a great time, so pull up a keyboard, and let's get this thing started; thank you for all that you do, and... see you all in the discussion threads!

Sir, The funny thing is: it is all relative. And to be clear, who doesn't get pissed when the cable is out!

In light of the recent change to finally "return-to-the-roll," my "better-half" recently sent me this; apparently she got a real chuckle out of it, and well I'll have to say it gave me a good laugh too... enjoy!

I had the great pleasure of meeting Mort Walker, the creator of "Beetle Bailey", back when his museum, The Museum of Cartoon Art, was open in Boca Raton Florida back in 1996.
It was somewhat intimidating meeting a legendary cartoonist whose weekly and Sunday strips I had read ever since I was a "li'l" boy growing up in New Jersey.
I did ask him a question though, after recently ETS'ing from the Army and with past experiences of dealing with Second Lieutenants, I had asked him where he got the inspiration of Lt. Fuzz. His answer was that Lt. Fuzz was based on his own personal experiences as a young Lieutenant. Pretty cool stuff!

Oh Yea, PS, The Preventive Maintenance Monthly. Those were pretty good. It was a great way to get the young troops motivated about PMCS. Here's one good example of a PMCS "motivator" from back in the '70's:

That's just great. Now we'll have to have health and welfare inspections to get rid of all the issues of PM Monthly. They clearly promote sexual harassment!

SFC Chris, look at the date Sept 1975. It was a different time and era. Vietnam War ends and the US Army was a different organization. The general public just had a nation-wide gas shortage, and Gerald Ford was President.
I was a senior in High School and joined the US Army the following year. Enlisting in the US Army was not a favorable career move in that year. Soldiers needed a RallyPoint just to survive a hard and difficult economic crisis, public ridicule and hatred, overall, just a different era.
The US Army has come a long way since September 1975.

PS, The Preventive Maintenance Monthly, toned down the racy illustrations back in the late '80's - right around when I had joined the Army.

SSG Seidel, very cool thanks for sharing; so, do you have any good stories from your time serving with Zaviski?

A Military Comic Strip called Gunston Street based on Basil Zaviski's experience in the army and navy as an airborne infantryman.

SSG Gerhard S.
Sgt Zaviski originally enlisted in the Navy, and after his discharge, he transferred to the Michigan Army National Guard Long Range Surveillance unit his father was in already. He joined as a wheeled vehicle mechanic and completed Airborne School. Somewhere along the way he found out that F Company's Mechanics, Cooks, and Riggers would not deploy with the Unit when we deployed, so he re-classified as an 11B, earned a position on a LRS Team and deployed with us to Iraq. After our unit was deactivated, Sgt Zaviski transferred back into the Navy Reserve until his recent retirement.
His comics have a way of making military people say... yeah... that happened to me.....
