You can use about any resume' builder as long as you know the rules. 1. The HR person knows little or nothing about the job you are trying to get and is just looking to work experience and educational background that pushes the right buttons. 2. That HR person is going to give your Cover Letter and Resume' all of about 3 minutes of attention before they put it aside.
What does that mean? It means that you need a cover letter that outlines your work qualification and pertinent educational requirements on one page, then a short Resume that details those subjects. I have yet to work for a company that cared if you volunteered at the local animal shelter, go sky diving or any of the other personal things we used to include.
If you have Office on your computer, they have a number of templates. Not a huge Microsoft fan, so I normally use the free and open source Apache OpenOffice.

CPT (Join to see) Trust me on this one. I have never met an HR person that had any clue about what I did for a living and little about how the company made money. Most of the over qualified education requirements that you don't need to do the job all develop in HR.

yep, I see that happen when putting in requests for job postings. HR just pulls req's from the internet, and the internet over hypes everything.

I saw that yesterday when the employment office did my resume and F'ed it up to make is a clusterF of lies! If I get called for the interview, I am going to carry the CORRECT resume with me that was handled by a military person who knows the MOS and what tasks translate to in civilian terms. I am angry beyond belief.

PFC Pamala (Hall ) Foster - That's why I started doing my own. Office has a good selections of templates (as does Open Office) that are plug and chug, just put your information in the sequence they list in the format you prefer. I've always used just the simple layouts. As I said before, that HR person is going to give your cover page about 3 minutes of attention.
Now if we could just get companies to post a realistic resume for the Company rather than the job descriptions that HR hands that will have nothing to do with what they want you to actually do.

A1C Medrick "Rick" DeVaney - GOT INTO BUSINESS and Accounting Concentration! Starting May 5! You said it would happen and it did (Took about 6 months, but it happened with VR&E help and scholarhips)! Now to work the next 2 years and pass ALL the classes, take the licensure exams and then, Realtor class and national and state boards...you are right-it is hard work and that is what we do-in and out of uniform. Back to the 2 Liter a day Dr. Pepper and Tuna Fish Sandwich habit to earn the LAST degree before licensure so I can do Real Estate Paralegal. AND THANKS for reminding me that "Mom is watching me and proud of her little girl."

LOL... As We've All Heard "If What We Did Was Easy, Everyone Would Do It."
But Quite Frankly, Even After All These Years, When I Look Back I Question Whether Or Not It Was Worth It: Missed A Lot With My Kids Growing Up & My Social Live Was Quite Limited. And I KNOW It Didn't Help My Marriage ~ But All That's Behind Me & Can't Be Changed., So We Go On From There And Try Making Ours & Their Life's Better.
But As For The Spirits, I Do Believe They're With Us, So Don't Be Too Surprised If You Mom Shows Up In Various Ways ~ In Your Dreams, A Certain Scent In The Air, Or Through An Incident Which Reminds You Of Her. ~~ Because It Will And Does Happen.~~
My Hobby And Habit Was Helped Along By Crown Royal. Dr. Pepper Didn't Have Enough Kick, But Crown Royal Can Kick Your Teeth In. I Still Enjoy A Few Sips And Keep A Fresh Bottle In The Fridge. ~ Not Much Of A Drinkers, But Was Introduced To Crown Royal When I Lived In Panama As A 14-16+ Year Old Kid, And I Still Remember Those Days - They Too Changed My Life, As Did My 4 Years Enlistment In The USAF ~ The Top 2 Important Life Changing Periods..

A1C Medrick "Rick" DeVaney - my life really changed when I enlisted at 37! At AIT, my Drill SGT wishes me HAPPY 38 by having everyone=THEM INCLUDING doing pushups and calling me "MOM" (I was older than everyone! Youngest was believed to be 18 and me, I was confirmed to the the OLDEST) made my day, because he made me SSG for a day and wore my PV2 and gave an Overnight pass as a present.
Moving to a duty station of more than 100k made me see that the world is larger than Shepherdstown or Harpers Ferry, WV, so I am still learning. Mom always wanted us to get an education that she and dad really never had the chances for because the Depression did alot of damage to our region and they were born in the Late 30s and Early 1940s), but they saw all of us graduate, and 2 go into service: Firefighter and me, the soldier.
Times are changing and now, we are watching the new soldiers coming up and I AM PROUD OF THEM!
THANKS for reminding me of the Angels, I think she is already making her presence known.
