- Fort A.P. Hill
- Fort Belvoir

When I was in I didn't care who the base was named after, I had too many other things to think about, with that said the money used for renaming could be used for better things to improve the quality of life for soldiers on those bases. Being a old timer Ft. Bragg will always be Ft. Bragg, same with Ft. Benning and Ft. Hood to me. I think the bases should not be renamed but if they have to be renamed I like SSG Roger Ayscue post on the names they should be changed too.

Installations should be named after an individual that has shown exemplary leadership in that particular branch (enlisted/officers) AND is from that particular local where that installation is at (promotes local support in recognizing someone from their city/town state.
As the Confederacy waged a war against a current government and lost, their 'heroes' should NOT be recognized. It would be like renaming the U.S. Capital after a Jan 6th protesters that caused the greatest harm and or death of a capital police officer. IMHO.

SFC Joseph Behmke
Let's name one after a chomo/pedo like Biden. Ask yourself, would you leave your 5-6yo daughter in a room unsupervised with this person after all the oral statements and video proof? The wrong answer could scar her for life. IMHO

MY ANSWER IS SIMPLLE, WITHOUT PREJUDICE. MY FAMILY GOING BACK TO THE 3RD AND 4TH GENERATION SERVED FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. 2 LT JOSEPH HENLEY BARKER, AND HIS SON, CPL JOHN ANDERSON BARKER (4TH WEST VIRGINIA CALVARY). MY SON JACOB AND MYSELF ALSO SERVED IN THE UNITED STATES MILIARY, THE ARMY AND THE MARINES. WE WOKE UP AND STOOD FACING THE DIVISION HEADQUARTES FLAG AT MORNING AND EVENING FORMATION. AS SUCH WE CARRY ON THE TRADITION OF AMERICANS WHO DID TAKE THE OATH TO PROTECT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION OF THESE UNITED STATES AND OBEY THE ORDERS OF OUR COMMANDER IN CHIEF (THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA). THAT'S WHAT I KNOW, AND THAT'S WHAT MY GRANDFATHER'S ALSO KNEW. NEARLY 700,000 PERISHED ON BOTH SIDES OVER 4 YEARS. THERE ARE STILL SOME IDIOTS (EVEN IN CONGRESS) WHO TALK ABOUT AGAIN SECEDING FROM THE UNION AGAIN. WELL?

There has been many Medal of Honor winners that posts coul;d be namedfor as well as Renowned General Officers that posts could be named after. General Eisenhower, General Omar Badley, General Patton, General Luck, General Schwarzkopf just to name a few.

Simply update the list. Vietnam veterans and onto a more contemporary time…… and maybe also name military bases for people that were on our side.
To a point, I understand the ‘erase history’ argument- but you’re equating the naming of a post with erasing history. I have yet to meet someone who isn’t southern, white, and almost always male, who says this. And yes- I’m all of those things as well.
The Germans did everything we could to erase the Nazis in their day-to-day life. No one has forgotten. The Japanese did the same with their imperial past.
The legacy of slavery is even worse because it’s so easy even now see the traces.
And no, I’m not a reparations person. Reparations should have been paid 160 years ago. From what I understand, some allowances were given to some former slaves.
Back to turn around and do it now would be rewarding people who were never slaves on the backs of people who never owned slaves-people who grew up in a completely different time.
These things aren’t directly tied together, unless you consider the fact that they’re both unearned. No one now deserves to be paid for slavery.
No one now deserves to be honored for it.
Change the names.

(Disclaimer - I am from Minnesota)
38 U.S. Code § 1501
Section 3 applies to the Civil War, and declares Confederate military as U.S. Veterans.
The sort of need to find guilt for the past is ridiculous.
