Doesn't matter if you agree with this move or not - it's been directed and it's happening. What are your suggestions for renaming the following bases?

- Fort Bragg
- Fort Rucker
- Fort Benning
- Fort Gordon
- Fort Hood
- Fort Polk
- Fort A.P. Hill
- Fort Belvoir
- Fort Lee
- Fort Pickett

Benning should be named for The Godfather of the US Army infantryman, to Ft Washington. Any armor installation deserves a look at Ft Patton.

I think "Camp Snowflake" would be appropriate to represent our current time in history.

I'm sorry to say that I'm tired of kowtowing to the political left, catering to the hurt feelings of a precious few, and fixing what isn't broke. These Army posts have had their names for a very long time, and why haven't these cupcakes bitched years ago? However, that's my opinion, for whatever it's worth.

I see a dilemma in renaming bases. First, I don't think we should honor Civil War notables with this distinction. They were basically traitors to the United States, at the time, regardless of their military prowess. Second, how do you disconnect from the name you have used, for some of us, for an entire career and beyond. I have been stationed an several of those bases. If, for example, Fort Hood is renamed, how do I refer to it in conversations, correspondence, etc. In my mind it will always be Fort Hood. Other bases have such a firm tradition in Army history for example, Fort Bragg.

Is the tradition the base…or the people that served on the base? Flip flop the entire garrisons of Fort Bragg and Fort Pickett…which one is now the better of the two?

I support this move. I would like to hear more about this from the DoD and/or whatever committee is officially working this matter.

Amazing, more Americans know the traitors than the heros
Fort Bragg to Fort Matthew RidgewayXVIII Airborne Corps Normandy
Cmdr UN Forces Korea after MacArthur was sent packing
Fort Lee to Ft George Custer, defeated Confederate Cavalry at Hanover Pa. during the Battle of Gettysburg.
There are plenty

Welcome to America. We love an underdog, even if the underdog was fighting for the right to own people…

If Lee had AC-130 gunships, he would have won. If Sherman had atomic bombs he would have shortened the war. Truth is, the south lost. It was always going to lose. The south did not have the industry or manufacturing capability to sustain a long war. The south was literally starving it's civilians to feed it's army. It's money was worthless. The desertion rate skyrocketed.
