Six weeks of Basic training and then straight to Wilford Hall....I was there for two months when a co worker wanted to sell her BRIGHT ORANGE Volkswagen Rabbit.

It was a five speed stick shift. I had never drivien a five speed. She let me take the keys every day at lunch for a week...explained and described how to operate it....she would park it way in the back lot where there were hardly any cars and I'd practice in the parking lot. lol

I learned all by myself...and once I could drive it, I bought it.

Man, did that little care have a lot of pick up and go. LOL

'64 Comet. I bought it from my uncle who was rotating stateside from Japan. I picked it up in Mobile and drove it home to Eglin AFB; the headlights were set up for driving on the wrong side of the road, and dimming the lights was worse on oncoming traffic than leaving the brights on. Had to replace the headlights the next day.

1942 Plymouth coupe in Hawaii (circa 1958). Abandoned it along side the road when it died a sad death due to age and treatment. I paid $50 for it.
