**Keep this respectful**

SCENARIO: You have one chance, one opportunity to ask one question...

What would you ask President Barack Obama?

Follow-up: Why would you choose to ask this question?

SGM Matthew Quick This is a great post and a great question. Here is what I would ask the President.

Mr. President since you've been office and become the “Leader of the Free World” have you fallen prey to any of the Paradoxes of Leadership:

The Ambition Paradox:

It’s no surprise that leaders are often highly ambitious. Being extremely ambitious about your personal success can cause you to lose sight of those around you as well as the country as a whole. A successful leader needs high levels of ambition, but he or she must be able to direct it toward achieving goals that are clearly beneficial to the majority of people.

The Assumption Trap:

Everyone has to rely on certain assumptions in order to move forward with decisions and projects in an efficient manner. Unfortunately, assumptions can be wrong. When they are, some people will fight tooth and nail to defend their statements (do you hear me, Donald Trump?), at the expense of a more reasonable approach. Effective leaders let go of this fear and find the courage to admit when they’re wrong and have made a mistake.

Differing Worldviews:

It’s easy to believe that our way of understanding things is the most correct way, especially when we’ve primarily interacted with people who share our worldview. With increasing diversity and globalization, however, organizations bring together people with widely varying cultural backgrounds, values and worldviews. Effective leaders create a safe, respectful environment for people with a diverse range of values and beliefs to work together.

The Succession Paradox:

At first glance, it may seem to be a positive indicator of your performance if you are indispensable. In actuality, great leaders build highly capable and talented teams of people who can successfully take over once you have left. Effective leaders aren’t afraid to surround themselves with brilliant professionals who can do as good of a job—or a better job—than they can.

Love this comment, one of the more thoughtful ones. I would love to ask any of our current/former Presidents this one.

Is it true that your mothers side of the family were slave owners? (that is true)

I'd just like to get a strait forward answer as to why it seems we are going in the wrong direction - we are supposed to live with the mantra of united we stand in these United States of America.

What was your biggest surprise, in terms of DOD and National Security, once you were on the inside? Why, because I believe the president makes best decisions possible, based on the information available - much of which the general public is not privy to...

Good One Col. He was definitely a more Liberal Senator and moved more to the Center after becoming President but I suppose the is true of all Presidents once elected. I suspect once briefed by the CIA, DIA and NSA, Their Attitudes Change. I know having been on the inside as a Retired Navy Spook that it definitely frames of how I see a lot of things.

Do you really care about soldiers as much as the past presidents have? Why so many cuts? When will it end?

Are you kidding me? It is a disgrace that a soldier would even say something like that. The next time something happens in another country we should just stay out of it uh? Look at the middle east countries we opted to stay out of. How is that working for them?
The question was "what would you say the prez" not I am a Democrat telling my sorry a** side of the story. Grow up and stay out of the big boy pages.

2d Lt (Join to see) Just so you know. There were WMDs in Iraq. Ask any EOD guy if he has ever defused a mustard gas IED. Every one of them have. They don't blow up. All those WMDs that you think were made up are sitting in Iran. Ask the Kurds if there were WMDs in Iraq. That shit was there. Don't believe everything you read/ It will make you sound like an asshole.

Gentlemen. Even secure officials agree it was a mistake.. Did I deny there were chemical weapons there? No. The countries we stayed out of 1SG? Besides Syria most have semi functional governments. At least it is not another Isis situation. Please remember to be respectful 1SG. I may disagree with you but we can be civil. I would still lay my life on the line for you.
